Rank the top 10 current Australian players

I wanted to have a go at ranking the top 10 Australian mens players. This means actual Australians that are eligible to play for Australia and choose to (eg not Kyrie) and what they are currently (eg not 2017 exum not 2009 bogut). Heres my crack at it:

1. Patty Mills
2. Andrew Bogut
3. Aron Baynes
4. Matthew Dellavedova
5. Joe Ingles
6. Dante Exum
7. Brock Motum
8. Chris Goulding
9. Brad Newely
10. Cam Bairstow

Honorable mentions: Ryan Broekhoff, Ben Simmons, Adam Gibson

Hopefully didn't forget anyone.

Challenge accepted!

1. Bogut
2. Mills
3. Baynes
4. Delly
5. Ingles
6. Broekhoff
7. Goulding
8. Newley
9. Andersen
10. Motum

Based on what we saw at the last World Cup, there is no way Exum is ahead of anyone on my list. That will surely change, but not right now.

Also, in Europe Broekhoff is the hottest Aussie right now, with Goulding, Newley and Andersen not far behind.

Motum is ahead Andersen and Bairstow at this stage IMO.

This is a hard one. Best 10 for international ball, or for the NBA style, or for Europe, or for ...

Anyway, mixing all those together I go with:

Bogut
Mills
Baynes
Andersen
Dellavedova
Ingles
Martin
Worthington
Newley
Broekhoff

Honourable mentions: Redhage, Gibson, Bairstow and Goulding

Right now? (assuming Patty wasn't injured)

Bogut
Patty
Baynes
Delly
Ingles
Clear top 5 for mine. Delly and Baynes could go either way.

Broekhoff
Motum
Bairstow
Goulding
Newley
Could really pick any of them in any order.

Gibson, Andersen, Exum and Martin next in line.

Patty Mills is in his prime. Give him the minutes and he delivers. Bogut is good but he is getting on and he is banged up.

Thon Maker assuming he plays for Aust will be a sure thing for top 10 in the future. But the thread is about current players only.

2013/2014 NBA stats Patty outdoes Bogut in points, steals, assists, fg% and 3fg% in less minutes.

If the two players were on the market who would attract the most interest and get the most money?

For top 25 you could make a case for Maric, Drmic and Greenwood.

For me, LC's list is totally on the money; although depending if Andersen's form has improved since the World Cup, I'd replace Andersen with Bairstow.

1. Bogut
2. Mills
3. Baynes
4. Delly
5. Ingles
6. Broekhoff
7. Goulding
8. Newley
9. Motum
10. Bairstow

Rid - like it, but I reckon Delly's more important to any team than Baynes

Dellavedova/Exum
Mills/broekhoff
Ingles/Simmons
Motum/Barstow/maker
Bogut/Baynes

1 of Goulding or Newley
I'd go with Newley.. Better defender and can play the 3.

Is that the rio squad?

Any "Top x" list of aussies that includes Andersen should be re-written as a "Top (x-1)" list.

1-Bogut
2-Exum
3-Mills
4-Dellavedova
5-Baynes
6-Ingles
7-Bairstow
8-Anderson
9-Broekhoff
10-Newley

I think Exum is currently a better player than Mills just hasn't proved himself yet.

Based on what evidence is he better than Mills, Delly, Ingles and Baynes?
He probably will be eventually (maybe even by this time next year), but he's not even close to their level yet.

I honestly don't think Exum would be one of the top 10 guards in the NBL at the moment. Before too long he's going to be an NBA gun, but right now he's an unpolished kid with some incredible physical tools.
