Reading the article it sounds like their hard work and combined efforts may bare fruit, if so and the concept does go ahead this is fantastic news for basketball in regional Victoria.

Geelong tried to do something similar a few years back, but unfortunately aligned with the wrong political party and when they didn't win the election the whole plan went down the toilet.

Good luck to Ballarat, I truly hope this goes according to the plans...

There is a big basketball development going on in Werribee too and one hopefully starting in the next year or two in Frankston, although the state Libs have only committed $2.5mill of the $4mill needed from them and Labor nothing at all if they win.

Frankston may have to charge their kids more to hire the BBQ to make up the $1.5m!

Frankstons project is costed at $25m and they currently have $3m.That means they need to sell 8.8 million sausages at $2.50 each to fund the rest of the development.Thats alot of sausages!!!

Gold!

HD, the first stage of the project is $13mill, I think getting that done would be an achievement.

You know, in all seriousness, if more local councils got on board with the program and committed serious funds towards these projects it would improve social and generational problems within their communities by offering kids plenty to do.

Many of our social and cummunity problems could be minimised if we kept kids from being bored and off the streets.

Not rocket science, I know, but it is a proven concept and every dollar spent today could be saved ten fold in future generations if only councils could see past their next election dates...

Noticed on Facebook today that Collingwood Basketball have been given 35K per year over three years. Not a bad kicker for a small club.
