Wynyard, freeman and leafa are the most well known.
Not too much to worry about for the Aussies you would think.

Will we see Tai at Nationals in Ballarat for April 2015, that would be great to see him play in the under 18's NZ team?

"Not too much to worry about for the Aussies you would think."

Tai Wynyard at 16 is a beast and holds his own against grown men.

Wynyard is a beast and Le'afa has tasted international hoops and played a decent bench role in Wellington's title last NZ NBL season. The Aussies will need to get a handle on those two.

Talk about leaving it to the last minute, oceania begins on the 1st of December. And they are still yet to select the team,

Not really Australia do the same.

They train together from a group of 20 from months out and they simply make cuts every few camps.

So its not really selecting the team from scratch.

These guys bar 1 or 2 would have been together for a while.

Macdub....Australia finalised their teams months ago. They all start out with a bunch of players and eventually whittle them down but 6 days before a comp starts is way too late to be choosing a team. If they didn't know before now considering how much training and playing together they have done with all the tours etc then the coaches haven't been paying enough attention

I don't see how its different to any other international team naming their side..

Aussie cricketers only just named their team

Every Rugby Union national team names their side on the Wed before a game...or the All Blacks (about 56-2 over the last three years and perhaps the greatest sporting team EVER) name their team on Thursdays.

NBA teams will cut the last few players just hours before the first season game.

Football teams like the Socceroos or All Whites will cut players just before they leave for a tournament.

Whats even more telling is that i am sure the Tall Blacks AND the Boomers have done this in the past.
IIRC, the Boomers will always cut last few guys and name their team just before they go away i.e. to China or to Ocenia Qualifiers. E.g. James Harvey missed out like this one year from memory...
