WNBL Round 10 - how good is this season?

The WNBL competition has been exceptional this season, especially with all the new talent on display - much like the NBL in fact.

Adelaide Lightning are now facing a 10-game losing streak after their loss to the Caps.

Sydney showed that Bendigo are beatable

Dandenong then beat Sydney to show how close the competition really is.

While Townsville are showing what they should be considered a title favourite with a win over the Boomers.

I still think Bendigo should be favoured to win it, but a few others will have a major say.

Poor Adelaide. They must be scanning their schedule right now wondering when they next get to play West Coast and break this losing streak.

A healthy Waves team at home would be a clear favourite to beat Adelaide.

Maybe but that's irrelevant since the Waves team ain't going to be healthy any time soon. They're not beating anyone while Tomlinson is in a moon boot.

the good teams are really good this season - not so much the lower teams being less.

when have we had so many players of this quality before.... never.

If adelaide had not lost novosel they would have registered of few more wins - novosel was in 15 & 5 & 5 form.

What are everyones thoughts on Abby Bishop, she'd almost be Australia's best current player?

Great player. Very versatile. Love her.
Tweener at the next level though. That's why she never had an impact in the WNBA. Too small to be a post, too slow for the perimeter. A lock as an Opal though if it wasn't for that BS that made her pull out of the worlds.

Best current player is Penny Taylor by an absolute mile

Superb WNBL player, but if most contenders are fit there will be stiff competition for Rio so she'll have to show what she can do defensively in camp.

Novosel may have been in that form at CABL level but WNBL is just a bit stronger. Her form for Dandenong was not even close to those numbers

Novosel was about to step right up

abby's run in the wnba was a few years ago - I.M.O. her game has escalated considerably since then. Definitely mvp form at present.

Bishop will return to the WNBA next season and will be much better prepared for it.

Talent emblem is really good...
I'd say Allen, Talbot, kunek, bishop, Francis and tolo could possibly make wnba rosters next season. Maybe burton as defensive specialist and ability to run the floor also?

Joyce is going to have a tough time over the next year and a half working out that Olympic roster.
Something like this you would think...

Pg 5'8 Phillips/5'5 Mitchell
Sg 6'1 Taylor/6'1 Allen
Sf 6'1 Ohea/6'1 jarry
Pf 6'5 Jackson/6'4 Francis
C 6'8 Cambage/6'5 tolo
plus
1 of 6'2 kunek or 6'2 Talbot or 5'10 madgen or 5'10 ebzery
1 of 6'3 bishop or 6'4 burton or 6'4 Tomlinson.

She was playing for Mark Wright last year. So that's not really a fair comparisonfor her true ability.

Not sure about Bishop in the WNBA Steve. What will would she do with her daughter while playing in the WNBA?

I'd be fairly sure WNBA clubs would be much better off financially to be able to accommodate her.

Daughter would not be a problem in the WNBA. Plenty of other players there have done that with no dramas.
Doesn't change the fact that she's a slow tweener though.
