Lakers Better Without Kobe

Kobe has been horrible this year, shooting at a terrible clip, taking horrible contested 2's giving him one of the worst efficiency ratings in the league, and let's not even start with his league worst defensive efficiency rating. Does the win against the Warriors without Kobe today show just how much he hurts his team?

Not sticking up for the guy, but I'm pretty sure this was a statement game for all involved. They were 10x more amped today than any other time this year.

You play with a hog or a player that doesn't pass at the right times and obviously you drop your head as it's frustrating. The players moved the ball and took mostly good shots, it wasn't all isolation plays.
I've watched a few lakers games this year and Kobe definitely costing them games. Terrible ball movement as it stops with him nearly every play, other players just get the scraps. It is so predictable and he shoots over 2 or 3 defenders, he needs to mould his game and pass more, have faith in your teammates to finish.

Even if you were to find that the team played worse with Kobe (given that you used a greater sample than 1 game) it wouldn't matter. Kobe sells games. Kobe is a living legend and an icon around the world. Ask your girlfriend who knows nothing about Basketball who a famous basketball player is and no doubt she will say Kobe. Go into Los Angeles and see every second person wearing a Kobe jersey and every second store selling his jersey. Go to a travel agent and ask them what to do in LA - chances are they may suggest seeing Kobe suit up for the Lakers.

My point is that Kobe still sells games and jerseys and everything. He is a money maker for the lakers, and that is all that matters to ownership.

They are around 25 points better per 100 possessions when he sits this season.

How ma any times has he sat this season? How many more points per 100 possessions is the opponent better off by when he sits?

Never seen him humbled like he was with David Aldridge before today's game
