Rhys Carter has improved 25x

This guy has been 25 times better this year than he has in the last 5 years.

Is it the coaching? Why is he performing so much better than all his last stints in the NBL with Adelaide and Perth?

Giving up Cadee AND Carter has been a huge blow for the 6ers. Had to have kept one and use Wilsions import spot with someone good, in a SF position.

I'm with 694. He's been great but no better than previous years. Though NZ have a winning culture which would be fun to play in.

Haven't noticed much change - he has been hitting his shots and appears to be benefiting from the good team culture in nz
Cedric Jackson probably helps get you open looks more than anything else

He also has the benefit of playing a pre-season instead of coming into a team half way through the season. Having said that I don't see him having improved significantly like OP is saying.

Yeah, think he'd be enjoying the club culture but improvement/stats would come from minutes. He's 8.4/2.5/2.1 this season vs 6.4/2.1/1.6 last season, though 19 MPG now vs 15.5 MPG with Adelaide.

Career best figures were 8.7/2.4/4.0 in 2010/11.

That said, 3P% and FG% are both career highs.

fg% 32.9 and 3pt% 28.5 in the SEABL last season.

He wasn't a player I was expecting much from in the NBL this season.

His ability to make great passes while keeping his turnovers low isn't something I've seen from him before. In the past he would make a great play and then a play that would make you pull your hair out the next.

Corletto received a similar boost when he went to NZ, he probably extended his career by quite a few years by heading over and now Rhys appears to have done the same thing.

He can shoot his team into a game, and he can shoot his team out of a game too. Same as always. Just a bit more of the former and less of the latter, in recent times.

You cant use his SEABL form as a guide though, last year he was in the most dysfunctional SEABL team in recent memory.

I thought the dysfunction was mainly off the court at Knox. They would have been less dysfunctional on the court if Rhys their main volume shooter shot the ball better.

A good player on a bad or dysfunctional team shouldn't shoot fg% 32.9 and 3pt% 28.5. Put a player like Garlepp or Petrie on just about any SEABL team and they put up good numbers and good shooting figures and the team becomes tough to beat. Rhys is playing at the same level as those players in the NBL which is strange given his SEABL form.

Rhys was surrounded by spuds and tried to do too much himself, poorly recruited team that hated the coach.

Don't judge him on last the SEABL season.

In a grèat situation this season. Was signed early so has had a full season unlike others and is flourishing in a system where he can do what he loves, shoot threes and play D. Maybe the 3P% comes back down to earth a little as the season goes on ...

We could dub this the "Ced Jackson" effect.

Perhaps Corletto and Rhys should pay Ced a small piece of the next contract they sign after they stop playing alongside him.
