When are offers made from last weeks camp ?
Is that what the camp was about, COE offers at the AIS?
Some were so young and with no U17 Team this year l doubt they have funding to sustain 2 years of development . So chances are slim that any will get offered COE places...except those already there.
Camp was about identifying or more correctly comparing and rating the identified talent & their potential. Don't think there will be any offer in the immediate future for any attendees. Boys program already has 12, girls maybe have room for some extra athletes, but that's not what they did last year. Maybe in the 2nd half of the year as some of those at the COE will be off to college midyear & then next year will be another U17 worlds, so would expect them to top up with kids eligible for the 2016 U17's & 2017 U19's, then the whole process repeats again. So a lot of those at the COE this year won't be eligible for the 2016 U17's or the 2017 U19's. So I'd expect them to make way for the next group.
All scholarship positions for the boys are filled and they are looking for a couple of school aged girls to go in. Camp was well run. Good coaches and managers over seeing the program.
I saw somewhere that they added ebzery to COE. Do you think they added her, to develop her or mould her into a potential pg for next year? Maybe to go along with Phillips, madgen or Mitchell etc. not sure she would make the team as an Sg.
Also tonks was added Along with another young prospect jasmine Simmons, a highly rated Sg. Best performer at nationals last year.
So they spend ???? On bringing players to AIS to check that the process of identification is working.
The senior women going in are Alex Bunton, Katie Ezbury, Elyse Penaluna and Lauren Scherf
I think bunton and ebzery have a lot of potential.
not sold on penaluna.. With all the injuries etc. so many other options in her position.
Scherf getting some extra training in before college?
Jasmine Simmons is VERY highly publicised by someone and was not even close to the best player at Nationals last year.
You would not hold a camp now, expecting kids to re-locate to Canberra next week I would not think.
This would be about planning future intakes, inviting families etc.
Simmons was 2nd in scoring, rebounding and assists. How was she not one of the best performers?
Magbegor, swan, McKay, Fuiava, cubillo, mole also performed very well.
So Ebzery goes back after being there circa 2007-08?
I understood Simmons to already have been awarded a place at COE and she was clearly the best player of her type at nationals !
#597. Not sure you have much of an idea about how the BA talent pathway works? ADC's are attended by athletes who have been put forward by state associations. These athletes have been talent id'd during regular rep comps, classics, tournaments, ECC, Country Cup, NITP & NPP, Rep finals, U14 Australian club champs, U16 & U18 national champs. Basically they get short listed. Then they go to an ADC and are put through their paces against the (subjective) best at the time. It is hard to fully gauge athletes in any other meaningful competition or setting as even in Nationals the range of abilities varies so much. For arguments sake some of the state teams would not win a game in the Victoria Championship domestic rep comp.
Also some athletes improve markedly in a short space of time due to many factors, have a growth spurt, strength, get fair dinkum about training, etc. Similarly some athletes drop away quickly for similar reasons, but the opposite.
Therefore the camps serve to test the current best and see where they are at against the current best talent.
The AFL is no different in what they do when they select their scholarship holders.

Except this camp had non of the AIS boys attend and the older stronger players in the girls didn't go due to wnbl or college commitments.so it only gives them an idea of the very junior coming through . And non were up for selection to AIS this year
Despite you exceptional spelling, punctuation and grammar that is only partially accurate.
Say what you mean Anon 707. That is just a comment for comments sake.
Easier to lead stats in a shallow team. Thank God people who understand the game, or in fact attend games to see what happens don't rely solely on stats and parents PR to assess talent.
Once again.... Show me a list of who performed better....
Stats or no stats.
