Sixers lineup 15/16

Not like me to go off prematurely...but been thinking how great the current lineup is looking then casting an eye to next season and who will go/stay. To me Gibbo is most doubtful. I recall Jamar was a two year deal? Anyone want to predict a lineup? I know there's plenty of season to go just thought an interesting topic

The way they're going I'd keep much the same team, and subject to players going OS if this team keeps rolling I imagine most would want to stay, assuming the dollars are there. For points they'l prob need a rookie back-up 2/3.

Johnson/Schenscher
Motum/Petrie
Creek/??
Wilson/Teys
Gibson/Daly

That team could be just ridiculous after this season and then a full pre-season together.

Paul, I think Schench is 34 so he could be the only one looking to retire, but his recent form has been outstanding.

I agree that PC could potentially be the only guy not to return. Would really like an athletic 3 point specialist in that spot.

That team would be awesome!

Motum to Europe, Gibson and possibly Teysy to Brizzy?

I'd like to see

Johnson / Petrie
Motum / Anthony
Creek / Steindl
Import / Teys
Gibson / Wilson

The import would be an athletic slasher who can shoot the 3. Terrico White anyone?

Schenscher only turned 32 last month.

He's got a few years left in him if he wants to.

You'd also like to see the point cap abolished and the 36ers find a rich benefactor!

Will be interesting to see if Gibson and Teys (and Petrie?) would want to leave a championship contender for an expansion team with an uncertain support base.

It all depends if we keep both Motum and Johnson. If we do then I say keep as many of the players as we can.

Gibson will be suited for the team if we have both players otherwise the team at least needs to consider if an import would offer more value. Gibson is probably in the top 5 payed players this season in the NBL and even he would think he has had a disappointing season, so questions must be asked if he is worth it. At the end of the day, it is Gibsons choice if he comes back. I think he will want to come back.

Even though the haters would hate to admit this if Wilson keeps playing the way he has then he should be back also. His ability to consistently score, his ability to draw fouls, his ability to hit foul shots at a high percentage, his speed and now his ability to pass the ball are all huge benefits to this team. Also recently he has really been getting into the opponents face defensively and annoying them (e.g. Cedric Jackons, Rhys Martin) which really helps us defensively.

Teys will need to be retained due to him being a 1 point player. That is huge for this team and he gets great opportunities playing for Joey and we all appreciate his skills.

Unfortunately it will either have to be Schenscher or Anthony that have to go (If DJ and Motum are still here). I would like to keep both but that is professional sports.

We can all speculate about next season but we still have an awesome season to watch and enjoy!

Keep the same team, yes even Jamar haha He has turned the corner and is playing great team ball. With experience and time this team could be special for seasons to come.

If the Brisbane big gets up I'd expect them to lose Teys, which is fairly significant given he's a one-point player and a much-improved player.
If he goes, I would expect them to let Schenscher go, given he'd be surplus to their needs should Motum, Johnson, Petrie return.

Anthony wont be available for most of the season so count him out of your potential line ups.

I doubt Teys will leave for Brisbane. He was a factor in bringing Brock here and he will reward Joey for the faith he has shown in him.

Gibson doesn't seem like the type to jump ship to me? Has only changed teams due to his previous ones going under. Aside from that, he likes playing for Joey so I doubt he will leave.

I highly doubt Wilson is on a 2 year deal.

There are a lot of off-court factors which would influence Teys' decision - partner, family ties etc in Brisbane.

Wilson was signed on a one-year deal, but hopefully the club will re-sign him.

I don't think the NBL pays enough to convince someone to stay just for the chance of a championship. Gibson and Teys would no doubt be offered more to play for BNE so should chase the money while they can.

As with every team, it will be interesting to see how the points come out.
Just off the top of my head, I wonder how the 6's would sit in regards to the salary cap. I can't imagine that Motum, DJ, and Wilson come cheap?

How long was Teys' contract? I can't imagine he'll stay at 1 point once it's up for renewal.

Word is that Joey has already verbally agreed to take on the Brisbane job. If this proceeds expect Gibson, Mottum and Teys as a minimum to join him.

Peach wont be leaving unless management really tried to stiff him. He hates having to shift his family and they are quite settled here now.

There are plenty of guys in the NBL who have turned down the biggest offer to stay/go to a club they'd prefer.

most likely adelaide turns over the most players and motum the only one signed

Yes, I think the opposite is almost true. NOBODY in the NBL pays so well that players will jump ship just for the money, and players who are only interested in the cash are more likely to be playing in some obscure but cashed up Foreign league.

I don't have any inside info but where there is smoke there is fire. It was rumoured on here that Joey threatened to quit before the start of this season due to not being given a contending roster. Since then obviously Motum in for Montreal and DJ in for BJ.

If Joey wanted out of the final year of his contract after this season I couldn't see the 36ers holding him to it. Motum is from Brisbane and his contract for next season is probably a player option anyway. I've always viewed Motum as a one year rental because if he's not in Brisbane next season probably the NBA or Europe regardless.

Anon 511886...There was also a rumour on here about a rift between DJ and Dean - obviously that was untrue. There isn't always fire where there is smoke...sometimes it's just someone blowing wind out their ass.

Hasn't it been rumoured that Bevo and CJ will be the coaching tandem for Brisbane? If that's the case why are people assuming that Joey leaving is a more likely scenario ?

Am I missing something or should Wilson be a potential Australian citizen come start of next season? Fairly certain he has been here 3 or 4 seasons and if that's the case then will that change anything from a management stand point?

Sad that the Tassie bid has been dead in the water as id have loved to see Gibbo join Lucas Walker as faces of that new team (as they return home)

Joey is contracted as is Creek and Motum (clause saying cannot play for another aus side next season if he opts out)

Well that's alright means Motum won't be able to pull the stunt CJ Bruton did when he told the Kings he was going to exercise the European option in his contract then turned around and signed with the Bullets.
