Promotion of next SEABL season

The new season will start very soon yet it seems like this year there is a lot less promotion of the SEABL league?

Ok, so SEABL joined with BA to save money on admin but the word certainly also was that the promotion of the league would greatly increase.

Why is it taking so long for the league to start to promote itself? Is it because SEABL is now second class to the WNBL within BA or are everyone just waiting until the NBL CEO sorts out that league?

Even the news and and promotion from many of the clubs this years seems to be lacking compared to previous seasons. Why everyone holding back on talking up and promoting what could be an exciting season?

Why would the NBL CEO sort out the SEABL?

Poor words .. Of course HO , NBL CEO is to sort the NBL out not SEABL ... the point is simply a question whether BA is just sitting back doing nothing with promoting SEABL because they are putting their resources to the WNBL and hoping at the same time the new NBL CEO can retain the 8 teams and the NBL .... Until the future direction of the WNBL and the NBL is clear many in BA seem uncertain what to do with SEABL and how to promote that league .

As soon as they pooled resources and the SEABL gave up control the league was always going to play second fiddle to the WNBL.

SEABL was a small 3 man operation and it functioned well, the promotion and media were good and the clubs co-operated.

Now they will want the SEABL clubs to generate their own content and push forward that way.

How will the SEABL clubs generate a league wide weekly preview, review etc....

They should pay Beth Davis and Rohan Short an hour a week ($30-50 each) to pump those weekly preview shows.

Paul Maley, incoming WNBL GM will also head up the SEABL. The GM role has been open since December and presumably that would eb the reason for the lack of content.

And Sandringham picked up Trent Zomer and Mitch Chapman.

And Dandenong have recruited Lucas Walker and Chris Patton.

Your preview does not go into this...

It's lazy and sloppy. Do it properly or don't do it all. Go and watch games and interview coaches about their pre-seasons.

Don't write a preview based on press releases and ill informed guesswork.

The league and its participants deserves better.

"Don't write a preview based on press releases"

Why not? The info in the press releases should be accurate. Sure, criticise the absence of teams in the preview, but there's nothing wrong with writing articles based on info the league and/or clubs have put out.

If you recall last season we were a week away from the WNBL season and there was not one ounce of promotion from the league. This continued throughout the year with no PR , sure a preview and a game summary but I don't class that as promotion. Dont think that SEABL is playing second fiddle to the WNBL. the only ones putting out PR on the WNBL are the clubs themselves (or maybe the Harrowers lol).

There is a much higher expectation for league promotion than exists. Let's hope BA announce a media and marketing person (or team even better) that can promote the sport as a whole ASAP.

In the men's preview article, not every team was featured deliberately. If we did that then the article would be way too long. Each team will get their chance at earning coverage this season.

Women's previews to follow soon.

Pioneers tv will be up and running again this season, a live show on the clubs youtube channel. Admittedly not league wide but a high quality production and might be interesting if your team has just played or is playing the pioneers the following week.
