PioneersTV

Hi all,

PioneersTV is back for 2015. For those who don't know it's a 30min TV show, streamed live on Wednesday Nights at 8pm and made for the Mount Gambier Pioneers, current Mens SEABL Champions.

We look at the previous and upcoming games of the Pioneers, have some fun with the team members and chat with a few other SEABL players as they come to the Icehouse.

We are currently working on introducing some more general SEABL content into the show as well.

Check out this weeks episode at https://youtu.be/ZhzO3c6_1-c

We hope you like it.

Thanks!

All episodes are streamed live! This weeks (22/4) was the only exception where it was recorded on the Tuesday due to a funeral on Wednesday. The recording was still treated as live.

All other episode are streamed completely live at 8pm on Wednesday nights.

It would be interesting to know what it takes to put together these TV shows. What the budget needs to be, how much time is devoted to it and the equipment or technology required.

I see no reason other than perhaps a lack of will to do so at other Associations, further more if the SEABL got together and arranged a think tank involving at least those who put together PioneersTV and FalconsTV couldn't something be done to produce SEABL.TV?

With a cooperative that involves all the SEABL clubs and the SEABL itself as a driver and supporter, surely this type of product could be fed into a highlights type show about all of SEABL as well as shows specific to each club/team as well!

Just a thought...

Bear, we run on no budget at all. Everything is donated at this stage to make the show happen. It takes a combined 15hrs per week between 2 of us to get everything ready and produce the show plus the dedication of our Captain and Assistant Coach to host every week.

We hope to introduce more SEABL League news over the next few weeks for ourselves with the help of a special guest, but seeing there is no SEABL TV this year we have talked about the possibility of trying to cover that hole.

If someone has some money to throw at it, it would make it easier to devote more time.

We would be more than happy to be involved in discussions at SEABL/BA level to help generate more content to promote the league, and have spent the last week drafting letters to start pushing this idea.

Taking into consideration that everybody donates there time and equipment for free. Can you give a ball park figure as to what it would cost to produce the show and the cost to live stream a game in HD?

Bear, We have offered to do this mentoring role, and are in fact involved with other organisation in other sports and other states who are progressing in this area. For some reason very few in the basketball community have taken up the offer of help. My attitude is that I am happy to make the mistakes so that others don't have to.....

In terms of cost, it can start at a couple of hundred dollars for a camera and a $5.00 capture device, a laptop and a 4g dongle.....Then it can get expensive. It all depends on the level of production that you want to do. Happy to have this discussion with you at Waverley when you are next up in Melb, and can show you what we have put in place. Or down at Corio Bay if they make finals agian this year! :-)

If I get to Waverley I will look you guys up, I tend to spend more time following the Supercats with my kids than the Stingrays these days, but you just never know where the Bear will be on any given day...

Thanks for the feedback guys, seems like the usual problems are present, the ones that start with 'care factor...' Where basketball is concerned!

Shame really, as it would be so much better for everyone if the leading organisations would just lead??!

For those who don't have Facebook, why can't they instal links to their current shows on the web page?
