Wollongong Hawks?

Are they in or out for next season?

Surely with free agency starting tomorrow, they would have to know if they are participating next season, to retain and sign new players?

Also, how about Brisbane?

Hawks management and owner have not yet provided any further information relating to a deed of company arrangement that they proposed at the second creditors meeting in which they were given an extension to put a plan to the creditors both secured and unsecured. As of today NO such plan has been presented. From graham wade Free agency has been extended again until 15th may seems James Spenceley is not only holding up the Hawks but the entire players not already signed for next season.

And holding up the rest of the league. But hey, we only report on self-interest when the bigger clubs do their own thing.

What date was the late time the Hawks players got paid? Must be tough on those guys at the moment with mortgages.

The extension to which gongski refers above was for 45 days. That extension was given at the meeting on 9 April. That means they have to 24 May to sort out a way forward that the creditors and administrator will accept. They could sort things out before then but, as gongski says, that hasn't happened yet.

Presumably they can't enter into new contracts or take up options on players etc until that's resolved. I doubt the administrator would allow them to do that.

That was certainly the case with other teams not being able to sign player contracts under VA before, but if that deadline is yet again well past the newly moved FA kick off, they really need to get things sorted before then as it's just pushing back further and further other teams prep...

Unless a new ownership structure has been put in place Wollongong which has NOT been presented to creditors they cant be confirmed in as at the moment no deed has been proposed by the current owner. Until they either exit VA or are liquadated i dont know how they can be confirmed. And either of those choices need to be decided by the creditors so not quite sure who is confirming them in. Maybe the NBL knows something the administrators dont, or possibly they have agreed to pay the Hawks debt. . Which i doubt seen as how they are already giving them a break on $595k the club owes the league.
