Breakers 2015/16

NZ Breakers have been quietly resigning the core of their 2014/15 Championship team of recent.

Contracted players are:

Cedric Jackson, Reuban TeRangi, Mika Vukona, Duane Bailey, Alex Pledger and now Tai Wesley.

Tom Abercrombie and Cory Webster are rumoured to be very close to inking deals that would see them back at Atlas Place for the next few years.

Ibekwe will not be returning as NZ were unable to offer him the money that him and his agent were asking and still remain under the cap.

Hopefully Rhys Carter is the next signing announcement followed by a new Import with a similar skill set to Ibekwe.

Anyone think Ibekwe may stay and play NBL next season and which team?

Be interesting to see who Breakers get to replace Carter. What local back up guards are there??? I agree with JMc about Ibekwe.

Ibekwe is a big loss IMO. Hope he stays in the NBL though.

Breakers may have a local big in their sights and go with an Import Scoring Guard to come off the bench but I think Paul's scenario is more likely with NZ going hard after Tai to give up Nebraska and come home to the North Shore.

He's just not getting the opportunities at Nebraska. Maybe if Petteway goes he'll get a chance to be a bigger piece, but the big selling point for the Breakers is how much his brother has developed in their system.

NBA or nothing? Looks like it will be nothing then. His stats at Nebraska are historically awful

His numbers have been dreadful which is sad as he is so much better than those numbers suggest.

I think his game would develop much faster with the Breakers. Dean Vickerman, Paul Henare, Judd Flavell, Cedric Jackson & Cory Webster would provide plenty of knowledge and skill set to the talented youngster while being able to offer quality court time in a league with a lot of guard talent.

NZ have options. Due to loyalty bonuses

Pledger 8 (6)
Vukona 9 (7) Tai Wesley 7
Abercrombie 7 (5) Duane Bailey 4 (1)
Webster 8 TeRangi 2 (1)
Jackson 10

enough room for 2x 10 point player 1 local and 1 import.
