Same old - no final results up on Fox sports for 18's and communication has shut down. Typical. Why expect anything less. It's only the Set Champs, not that it really means anything

Congratulations to Sturt for Champion Club yet again.

Interesting to note that every State grand final was won by either Sturt, Centrals or Forestville.

Just a question, my daughters team came third after a win today, are there bronze medals? Or only medals for 1 & 2?

From my adding up, and considering BSA hasn't updated the U18 Boys State grade.

State Boys

Sturt 15
Centrals 11
Eastern 5
Southern 3
Forestville 3
North 3
Norwood 2
West 1
Woodville 1
South 1

State Girls

Forestville 16
Sturt 12
Centrals 5
Eastern 5
Southern 2
Norwood 2
West 2
North 0
Woodville 0
South 0

Overall State

Sturt 27
Forestville 19
Centrals 16
Eastern 10
Southern 5
Norwood 4
West 3
North 3
Woodville 1
South 0

Reserve Boys

Norwood 11
North 9
South 9
Sturt 8
Forestville 3
Centrals 3
Southern 1
Eastern 0
West 0
Woodville 0

Reserve Girls

Sturt 14
Forestville 13
Norwood 8
South 4
Western 4
Eastern 1
North 0
Centrals 0
South 0
West 0
Woodville 0

Overall Reserves

Sturt 22
Norwood 19
Forestville 16
South 13
North 9
Western 4
Centrals 3
Eastern 1
Southern 1
West 0
Woodville 0

Sturt won 4 State Grand Finals and had 3 other teams top 4. They did better than the best result from all other clubs combined. I thought the BSA and NITP change was meant to change this dominance.

Forestville still very strong in Girls but really need to do something about their boys who are letting them down. And looks like their lower age boys need a lot of work.

Norwood were very good in reserves but equally bad in State's. Do they have their team selections right???

Centrals having another good year at State level but both their U12 teams missed finals. I am assuming they will need to recruit country kids in again, or they might be moving backwards

Eastern girls lacked something this weekend but their boys side was solid. They probably need some more depth to make the next step up.

Southern had 2 good results but otherwise a pretty dismal weekend. Lots needs to be done there by the looks.

South had a disastrous weekend in State but there reserve boys were good again. Maybe still moving in the right direction based on numbers alone.

North have well and truly hit rock bottom. This would be their worst State Champs performance in perhaps 30 years. The influx from woodville has helped their reserve boys by the looks but, they really need some Div 1 results again.

West have seemed to have not done much to change their lower end slide. 18's both finaled but no one else scored a point. Need to do some real soul searching.

Woodville nearly puled of the upset of the tournament in 14 boys, but otherwise had a similarly wretched weekend again.

Sturts Reserve Boys look like they are being neglected Have some moved out to other clubs. Noticed Norwood and Souths have lots of teams in reserves now.

Reserves is difficult to judge as many clubs run 2nd years where clubs like Forestville and Sturt run mostly if not all 1st years. So you don't see the strength until they reach Div 1 or when a player moves down to 3's for 2nd year then create a strong 2nd reserves team in the next age group the following year. Hope that makes sense.

stats room - first paragraph - this is of concern - a "must bring sturt down" mentality not a "we must get up to that level, how do we do it ? / let's go about it" is a very suffocating culture to embrace and IMO no a very developmental approach.

What are the thoughts about a coach calling a timeout when up 12 with 3 seconds left in the game?
After already calling one with 15 seconds left?

Saw this happen in one of the grand finals.

The targeted coach didn't call both time outs. Opposition ( losing) coach called first time out with 15 seconds to go ( and no hope of winning) and " revenge" time out followed.

851 with the crystal-clear agenda.

It was 16 Girls State: Andy and Steve appeared to laugh it off immediately after the final timeout.

Coaches laughed it off. I'm glad the coaches were entertained. It's not about them though.

Correct, and I don't think the teenage girls on either side give a shit.

As is usually the case: it's parents/armchair-experts that take issue with these sort of trivial non-incidents.

It's not about the coaches.

What did these time outs achieve for the girls?

What did it achieve for the coaches? They got to have a laugh and got some attention whilst everyone looked at them like Twats.

At the end of a busy (stressful?) weekend, 2 coaches have a bit of fun.
Get over it. Added 30 to 60 seconds to 5th or 6th game of weekend. Let me guess which team you were on?

Move on state champs over classics for some not for others I would be more concerned about some average umpiring over the course of the weekend in u/18s some of these kids are massive and can really do damage if not umpired properly

Can anyone confirm that this actually happened?

Under 16 Boys final pool match Mavericks v Southern. Mavericks have been the better side all year and probably should win that game. Winner finishes top in their pool.

Mavericks coach decided to rest his starters after half time and as a result loses by 30. He tries to justify this by saying he doesn't care who they play in the semi because they'll beat them anyway.

Mavericks play eventual champions Centrals in the semi and lose by double figures.

Any regrets coach?
