Plans for new courts

Can people update us on when new courts are planned to be built and where? I have heard Casey have approvals and funding, and Frankston have planning under way?

Plans for multi court stadium in Donvale (VIC) as well. Believe it to be a 4-court venue near corner of Reynolds Rd and Springvale Road.

Frankston plans have stalled due to insufficient funding.I believe Casey already have funding and they will have additional courts in the coming years.Bit of a reflection on the Councils.Casey cashed up,Frankston only drip feeding money as funding tied up on other major projects.

South Australia has plans for new 2 court facilities at both Hillcrest and Marion.
State of the Art stadiums will be built made from corrugated iron and featuring seating for approximately 60 people.
The CEO of Basketball in South Australia said "there will even be change rooms, canteen and possibly glass backboards on one of the courts".

I weep for our sport in SA every year we return from Classics/Nunawading

amazing what a progressive governing body/Council/State government can achieve working together

constipated at every level over here..a total embarrassment

Then they wonder why we can't grow the sport.
Sub-standard facilities won't attract new players.
Hillcrest is only 'earmarked' because of the land value on such a prime site.
If/when the Port development takes off, the Bearcat Stadium will be worth heaps.
Trouble is that none of us will be around to see such development

The Port development will never take off.

That's been a topic of discussion for the last 30 years or more and the Port still sucks.

I bet Hillcrest will be sold off for residential as soon as Norwood vacate Mars - North will be pushed in there and Hillcrest demolished.

Port/Enfield council not committed to BSA as have far to many projects elsewhere.

Marion stalled and going nowhere.

thats cause marion had a oppertunity to build a "super" stadium with the footy club and the then current decision makers turned it down
now the football looks decent and the basketball... well they still have gravel car parks...

one day dreamer - whilst MARS is in better condition than Hillcrest - that will not happen IMO - BSA own Hillcrest and they would have to rent MARS.

Campbelltown will be the bees knees with ? 5 courts - would not be surprised to see a lot of North games there.

And anon - that Advertiser circa 1970's - try 1950s

south - need a new 3-4 court facility - with the most junior teams, some must rarely get a home game

From what I've seen in the fixtures Panthers Div 3 down to 5 get all their home games at Morphetvale 3 and 4 or Pasadena 3.

jontron miles off.
the plans were still on councils website recently. it is for the stadium to be built where the current carpark to the community club is (and on part of something else, maybe a lawn bowls club or something?) no funding for it though - the money went to other clubs (hallet cove and.... brighton maybe?) in their area for now.

Interesting #035. The way Frankston are talking, the new courts are not far away?? The Casey complex will be huge with the pool, indoor soccer/volleyball,bowls etc. Its certainly the growth area of Melbourne.

hate to break it to you Dr Seuss but BSA don't any ANY Club stadiums.

Hillcrest is owned by COUNCIL.

BSA lease it from them via peppercorn agreement-$1 p/year.

BSA also lease Port Adelaide stadium from same Council but pay massive $$$ and liable for all on-going maintenance and repairs

work that crap arrangement out..

Warwick Stadium (home of the SBL Stirling Senators) is currently being expanded. It will double in size from 4 full courts to 8, and the main court will feature 450 fixed grandstand seats plus retractables.

It's an $8M project. The complex is owned and operated by the Churches of Christ Sport & Rec Association, who are paying $5.5M, and the City of Joondalup is tipping in $2.3M.
Its a little weird considering its the home for the STIRLING Senators (Stirling is the Council immediately to the south.) Warwick is at the southern tip of the city of Joondalup, and this is really the only significant facility in their southern suburbs.

I drove past the other day. Slabs are already down, and it looks like the structural steel is starting to go up.

Cat I would say it was the council of the day, peppercorn lease is what BA have on Morphettvale as well, I'm unsure if they have Marion under the same deal but they pay peanuts. BA should be liable for the cost of repairs on a peppercorn lease.

Bayside News reporting that building at the Frankston Stadium has been halted as the Council and FDBA negotiate the lease. How the hell is this saga still going on? Surely the increase in rent was budgeted for but then again who knows. Casey are nearly ready to open their new facility and Frankston hasnt even had a sod of soil turned.

Casey/pakenham will be the new hot bed for Victorian ball.
It'll be a major club within the next decade like Knox, Dandenong etc.
So many young families with lots of lil kiddies.

Casey and Pakenham are two separate clubs/associations, located about 25 mins apart. It's quicker to Dandenong by road from Pakenham than it is to Casey. With the growth already occurring out there, all these associations should continue to grow.

Casey's new facility will be pretty impressive from all reports too.
