Sportslocker's Don Shipway forced to close doors

Hi All,

Most of you would have heard of or know of ex Sixers and South Adelaide Basketball Coach Don Shipway.
Don and his Wife have run a sports store out at Sefton Park for over 30 years now and due to ASICS refusing to supply them with ASICS shoes they will more than likely be forced to clothes down their store.
They haven't been given a reason and the CEO of ASICS is refusing to speak to them, they are currently in Japan trying to force a meeting.
But what it looks like is that the big companies don't like the fact that Sportslocker offer ASICS shoes at discounted prices and have demanded that they no longer supply to them.
Don and Kay have been involved in the Basketball industry for close to 50 years now and the reason they always discounted was to help families provide good shoes at affordable prices.
I have attached an article below on their plight.

I know the Basketball community always gets behind each other in times of need, so please take the time to post your disgust on the ASICS Facebook page, it will only take a minute but may go a long way to helping a family keep their store!

Thanks.

There's another similar story in the States, but in that case 10+ stores are going to close as a result. The reseller/distributor market is going to cop it in the next few years.

Asics opening up their own store in Adelaide, of course they don't want competitors. It's called business

Shame that they have to clothes down.

Surely a savvy marketing exec of a rival brand sees an opportunity to fill the void, at least for a couple of years.

ASICS have closed 13 of their own stores in the USA in the last 12 months. 5 of those they were evicted from. More to this than meets the eye.
