United Concerns

With some question marks over the make up of the team if all 10 players were healthy things just got a little more murky with Nate Tomlinson out for 4-6 weeks and Dave Barlow potentially about to put the queue in the rack for good after his achilles just hasn't responded post surgery.

These are two guys that were needed to be significant role players if United are to make any noise this season.

Not many guys of the Barlow mould that can stretch the floor, consistent from range and guard multiple positions on the free agent list.

Massive blow for United if true.

Although Blanchfield can play 35 minutes a night at the 3 spot.

If true, this shifts the spotlight towards the other guys on the bench- Igor M and Majok mostly- both are a bit of a mystery.

Barlow is done. Iggy and majok will be players that can fill a role, do their job and allow the big time players to flourish. They will need a player as a 3/4 to stretch the D.

To be fair, Barlow looked a shell of his former self last year already.

He was, but even if he brought what he did last year, he would've played a valuable role in 15-20 minutes a game this season.

So if he was unable to play and had to sit out the whole year, United still has to pay his contract but they can place him on an injured list and find the best player available- using his points and salary under the cap, yes?

Following on from the above, who would actually be available?

Wonder if there's any Aussies playing overseas who could make a return, like Motum did last year? Maybe this could turn out to be a good thing, similar to Jawai landing in Perth?

Anatoly Bose?

I think this is great news for Blanchfield as he left guaranteed minutes to share time with a former Boomer but with this he should be getting atleast 30 a night and we can see him flourish and hopefully Iggy gets some more minutes.

United will be fine and finish 6th... Where I expected them to be pre this news

Blanchfield is better than Barlow. You are better off with him playing more minutes trust me.

Blanchfield was always going to play more but having Barlow back up 3/4 for 15-20 is a valuable asset in question
