Jock Perry to Saint Marys

Will join fellow Centre of Excellence veterans Emmett Naar, Tanner Krebs, Kyle Clarke, Jock Landale, Jordan Hunter, and Dane Pineau. Ton of Aussies for an American team. Not to mention two 7 footers both named Jock.

Maybe Pineau will have graduated by the time Perry starts leaving them with 6 at any time?

Pineau and all of those guys have two years of eligibility left so they will play with Perry. I've never heard of an NCAA limit on foreign players

At this rate St Marys will have an entire squad of Aussies.....The mens program has had some success, but the womens runs off the back of the mens like many of the colleges when it comes to well known names, their womens program whilst having a lot of Australians in it is no were near the calibre of the mens unfortunatley.
And its not a super strong conference either in the overal national womens comp.

stanford seems to be after aussie girls.
Smith obviously playing this season but also after both horvat and maley for next season.

This could be the start of something with our aussie women. These will be the first top tier talent to go to US college and not stay home to develop in the WNBL. And Stanford would be a big temptation!

they are certainly not the first top tier talent to go to US college, you have the Frolings,Wallace, Antoniadou and Smith all already over their, plus Pannousiss. Turner, Collins a couple of year before. Wallace, Smith and Antoniadou are the first Aussies to go to their respective colleges, in fact Smith is the first international recruit Stanford womens basketball have had,
Wallace and Antoniadou are in top 10 div1 colleges and their are lots of other very very good players from Australia in the USA college system.Just the women dont seem to get as much hype as the men do so many dont realise.

We only have 4 girls in big schools...

Wallace-Baylor
Smith-Stanford
Antoniadou-Florida state
Dennis-Dayton

Virginia tech, smu and st Mary's are not top d1 schools.

Dayton is a bigger basketball school than Saint Mary's? Get your head checked. Mary's would have wiped the floor with both Stanford and Dayton most of the last ten seasons, on the men's side anyways. Louella Tomlinson was one of the highest rated women in D1 when she played there a few years ago.

Getting off topic, the OP was about Jock Perry committing to St Mary's.

Please start your own post re the girls in D1 College.

What may be a top college in men's basketball is rarely a top college for the womens.
St Mary's has been a long standing competitive college for the men, however their women's program rarely does much,
This is the predicted top ten for the women

1 UConn
2 Notre Dame (IN)
3 South Carolina
4 Maryland
5 Tennessee
6 Baylor
7 Florida State
8 Louisville
9 Iowa
10 North Carolina

This is the predicted top 10 for the men

1 Duke
2 Kentucky
3 North Carolina UNC
4. Kansas
5 Maryland
6 Michigan State
7 Arizona
8 Virginia
9 Wichita State
10. Villanova

As you can see with the exception of Maryland, the men's and women's comps have very different colleges in their rankings of what's a top college.

^St Marys losing their main man as a senior last year may have something to do with that, it will be interesting to see how they cover Waldo this season.
