off court issues become more serious when your team is 0-6

Julius Hodge got the arse during last season for off-court stuff too over there.

Didn't even know Hodge was there, wow what a fall from grace after being a first round pick. Getting shot in the leg may cause that i guess!

Yep and after being cut late last year by his BBL team I don't believe he's played anywhere since and seems to have gone into early retirement now an assistant coach for a college in Buffalo, New York.

Most of the Kiwi guys come through the NZNBL and unfortunately the alcohol policies from individual teams is very little or nothing. Paul Henare was the coach of Southland during the Henr/Te Rangi incident and yet he was with the team in the club when it happened.

These guys don't get it and go to other clubs stupidly thinking they can get away with the same stuff

BTW, yes. Bailey is flying to the UK as a replacement. Getting released from the Breakers might be a blessing in disguise for him.

It's poor from BJ too as his drinking problems were the reason the Breakers got rid of him too.

and if BJ didn't have that aweful achilles injury it would be a different story. was getting his high from basketball and his coach kept him in line. he was becoming a boards beast and should have been a key player in the sixers title run and who knows how it may have turned out. sad really. he is a steller bloke with a problem he needs help with and luck didn't fall his way and he fell off the tracks... would like to see him back at sixers, they need a board beast ...

I thought it was as much a marijuana problem as an alcohol problem for BJ?

Probs not really our business beyond they got sacked. Issues like drug alcohol bit personal...

Bennie Lewis was also released from the same Club.

Perhaps there's more to this than the players screwing up?

It's our business when it's in official press releases. BJ Anthony got done a second time by the Breakers for turning up to practice drunk or hungover. That's why they tore up his contract.

Corey Webster failed the drugs test for marijuana and got suspended for a year.

Right but realistically some b grade league in the UK is all about the gossip angle at this point. If the boys have some demons to over come, let them do it, not type about it... Anyways just my opinion. Stops becoming ball related pretty quick and crosses over to private stuff.

Okay this British league stuff may be scuttlebutt but the Breakers stuff with BJ & Webster are public facts.

Yeah, good point, definitely a difference between speculation and rumour on something that's unknown and a situation that's been sorted a reported on.
