Australian Boomers squad of 16

According to the Fox commentary tonight, Andrej Lemanis will pick a squad of 16 players leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

I would suggest the squad of 16, would include the 12 picked for the last Oceania's.

So....

Dellavedova
Mills
Bogut
Bairstow
Broekhoff

Gibson
Goulding
Andersen
Motum
Newley
Jawai
Gliddon

Plus....
Exum (if available)
Baynes

Leaves 2 spots. Simmons unlikely to be available, so who are the last 2 guys on the squad?

I am not sure that Simmons would be a starter. He has dominated against some pretty poor college teams. Let's see how he does against quality. But if available I'm sure he will find a spot on the team

Simmons has to start if he is half as good as people say he is. Best rookie since lebron -- lebron dominated Nba in his rookie year

Ok, IMO there's a couple of problems with your team, but here's who I would choose

G: Delly
G: Mills
F: Ingles
F: Simmons
C: Bogut

Bench

G: Goulding
G: Martin (soley for defence)
F: Broekhoff
F: Baynes or Bairstow
C: Ogilvy (if he's up for it, if not Jawai)

11th Man: Bairstow or Baynes
12th Man: Exum (if he's available)

Oh and you could fit Motum in there somewhere, maybe for Baynes. But I don't know if he would make the squad

If Brendan Joyce was the men's coach Tessa Lavey would be a chance for the squad.

I gotta admit she is pretty cute, love her at the Lynx

Pf/c in college. Pf/sf at next level with another 20-30 lbs.

Dante Exum a starter? You'd trust a kid fresh from injury and after a underwhelming rookie season to be the main guy running the team?

I think Exum is overrated, personally. He has all the potential in the world, but have only seen it on court all come together once or twice. You don't pick Boomers teams on potential, you pick them on who is going to give us the best shot. Exums place in that is in the 8-12 range on the bench.

Martin, is a great defender and a pretty good play maker, we need someone like him, who's going to defend hard.

As for Goulding, this season, he's proven that he not only deserves a spot, but also some minutes. (Although that may be hard with Back Court we have)

Daniel Johnson! LOL
Ogilvy had an off game, and the difference between Ogilvy and Johnson, is that Ogilvy can actually defend.

There is a reason why he was once touted as an NBA hopeful, Ogilvy is a much better player than DJ

DJ shouldnt be in the conversation. He is a crap defender and he is shit when under pressure. He is a guy with a lot of talent but not a great deal of toughness.

PG - Dellavedova
SG - Mills
SF - Ingles
PF - Motum
C - Bogut

1- Baynes
2- Bairstow
3- Simmons
4- Exum
5- Broekhoff
6- Newley
7- Goulding/Andersen

Exum unavailable? Gibson
Simmons unavailable? Either Andersen/Goulding

In a 40 minute game the depth chart would look something like this:

PG Delly (25)/ Exum (15)
SG Mills (30)/ Broekhoff (5)/ Ingles (5)
SF Ingles (25)/ Broekhoff (10)/Simmons (5)
PF Motum (20) Bairstow (15)/Simmons (5)
C Bogut (25)/Baynes (15)

Because no other back up point guard (apart from Exum, who may not be available) can comfortably bring the ball over half court (D Martin certainly can't)

Re: AK 47

No way is Ben Simmons only getting 10 minutes a game, and Exum getting 15 minutes.

Exum is coming off of an injury, you'd expect the minutes to swap around IMO.

Gibson, Newley, ogilvy, goulding are crap, should never be picked for the boomers.
NO HARM picking future stars like Adel, Bolden, Majok Majok and Thon Maker as they will only occupy the 10th - 12th spots.

Pretty sure we want the team to be as deep as possible rather than pick guys who may or may not end up being any good.

You call goulding crap, but right now he'd school any of the names you mentioned.

Do you judge talent solely by how black they are or something? Lol. Nothing I've seen of Adel or Bolden tells me that they are the next big thing.

The boomers are not a fucking .Development squad! I feel I have to say it leading into every tournament

If the best aussie team are made up of 12 black players, so be it. you pick the best team regardless the colour of the skin.
Adel and Bolden have very good chance of making the NBA. Donˊt think Goulding will make it.
