NBL free agency pushed back to 1st April

The National Basketball League (NBL) will be postponing the start of the free agency period ahead of the 2016/17 NBL season to Friday 1 April, 2016.

Changes to the Player Contracting System, Standard Player Contract and Collective Bargaining Agreement are currently being revised in consultation with the Australian Basketballers Association.

The NBL free agency period would customarily commence 14 days following the last Grand Final game of the season, however, the commencement of the free agency period was also pushed back to 1 April in 2015.

They really should have picked a different date... any date other than that would have done.

Boti has an article up suggesting that the three-import rule might be involved. I imagine that the NBLPA might be less than keen for more imports?

Does the NBLPA still exist?

Given it mentions the standard player contract and player contracting system, the Brian Conklin clause is presumably part of it, along with whatever changes the NBL wants to make. And from what Holmes has said in the past, almost every discussion with the league involves them trying to get the points cap abolished.

Be interesting if the league does want to abolish it, whether they perhaps pretend otherwise, so they can 'concede' that to get other things through.

So what has the NBLPA ever achieved? Why hasn't there been pressers about the NBLPA in negotiations with the NBL? When does their current contract expire with the NBL?
