Finals are here at last. In the women's VIC Metro have drawn SA Metro - same match up as 2 years back when VM had dominated their pool then dropped this game.

Different coaches and teams this year, will be interesting to see who prevails.

Except that was a semi 2 years ago, not a quarter.

Do you think top performers will get camp invites for possible spots in u17 worlds teams?

Bowen For example who's the top performer in points and rebounds.

Plenty of BA here watching so it all goes in the mix I am sure.

Big win by Vic Metro in the women's over SA. Conti must be putting her hand up for a PG spot.

Absolutely..
Conti should at least be shelleys backup as well as a combo in the backcourt Imo.

If say pizzey, Magbegor, mcspadden and Cochrane are locks... (Coe)
Who do you think will get that final big spot? Or will they go with just 4?
I.bourne, Parker, batish, motuga, Nankervis, Rees, Beaumont, rowcliffe etc..

Mole needs a spot on that team also.

Imo
Shelley/conti
Simmons/Simons/? (A cg or sg) Goodchild, Andrews, Satie, McLean, c.bourne, cubillo.
Mole/Rowe
Pizzey/Cochrane/? (A pf)
Magbegor/mcspadden

Goodchild won the PG battle against Vic Metro easily so would be my first addition. But I would still find a spot for Conti in the 12.

Front court unchanged assuming Pizzey is fit.

I'd go with Goodchild also but she's not much of a distributor. Good at getting to the basket and finishing. Also plays good defence...

Who's the fifth big Iyo?

I'd just move mcspadden over to pf and put Nankervis at centre.
Looked descent in the seabl so far.
Not sure why she isn't in the metro team. Was she injured or did they decide that they had enough bigs already?

This...
5'8 Shelley/5'4 Conti
5'11 Simmons/5'11 Simons/5'9 Goodchild
6'0 Mole/6'0 Rowe
6'3 Pizzey/6'4 Mcspadden/6'5 Cochrane
6'4 Magbegor/6'3-6'4 Nankervis

Mens?
6'0 Dent/6'1 Zunic
6'5 Elkaz/6'6 Bines/? Who knows..
6'7 Fullarton/6'7 Johns
6'8 Dalton/6'8 Griffiths/6'7 Bowen or possibly 6'8 ring?

So looking decent in SEABL to you is:

Limited minutes for one of the bottom teams in the country.

For an average of 1 rebound and 2.5 points.

Sapphire material? I think someone believes teams are selected on here and trying to influence?

no affiliation mate...
She's a quality big for a bottom Ager... And of course in development.
Just thought she would offer something different from our long mobile bigs.
the European teams all have strong 6'3 centres. Cubaj, Jordao etc...
It would be good to have atleast one bigger stronger body with post moves, strong hands and a descent ft shooter.

No doubt there are others in the mix but no one with her frame.
I'm also a big fan of bourne, Parker and G.george.

Not picking on any kid, I'd just prefer to pick someone who has done something, even if they are 4'6".

Saying someone is a quality big just because they are biggish doesn't make sense, unless your ambition is to finish a creditable 9th at worlds. The squad need to be exceptional.

I agree. I'm choosing her for a reason. It's not just about being big.

We finished 5th last campaign.. And the talk back then was that we had no bigs even though we had some quality ones available.
We have good Size this time around, but we are gonna struggle getting rebounds when Magbegor is not under the basket.
Most of our guards and sfs have higher rebounding numbers than our other bigs.
I'm worried about that particular area.
Who can fill that roll?

Just an example..
2015 oceania u16 over 4 games

Magbegor 45 rebounds 82 mins
Pizzey 12 rebounds 64 mins
Mcspadden 17 rebounds 49 mins
Cochrane 12 rebounds 45 mins

1 rebound and 2.5 points per game?

How much time she has got has nothing to do with her ability.

Mole at Hobart
Bourne sisters at Canberra
Batish at Sandringham

No minutes for these girls either... Quality players though.

I agree stats don't tell the full story, but at some time, at some level a player needs to have done some thing, somewhere, some time to be eligible for selection into an Australian squad.

Shelley injured but Vic Country did a great job this week. Over performed really for the talent available.

The big girls turned up to play for Vic Metro today.

How can a team"over perform" they either win or they don't, and they have won very very well, and clearly loosing Shelly did make a difference.

VIC Country lucky to be top 4 with Shelley. Remember largely the same team that finished 4th in 16s. Never a danger.

I'm not sure she is the 2nd coming

Just a solid PG who beat up Pacific Nations. We have plenty of stock in this are such as Conti, Goodchild, Cubillo.

Good, but let's not get carried away.

Well Vic Metro have stamped their authority again in both mens and womens.
Well done by Qld Sth to make gold medal games in both.
NSW best finish was metro boys with bronze.
Country boots go from 1st last year to 5th.
Country girls finish 4th which is up on last year.
Metro girls embarrassing again finishing down the bottom end even with a wnbl coach at the head.
NSW program needs changes to lift the program.
Seebohm is overcommitted to run nitp program.
Who will take Cadees role.better be someone decent to look to get the program bvack on track.

Elkaz/bines/? (MacDonald/stoddart/Stattman)
Fullarton/johns
Froling/?/? (Griffiths/Bowen/ring)
Colina/? (Dalton/carter/Hulland)

Qld south girls will get vic next year I reckon with their emerging team plus Goodchild, head, motuga.

Will be interesting, Vic Metro had 4 bottom age plus plenty at home. Will have a MASSIVE front court advantage, while QLD South look stronger in the back court.

Should be fun to watch.

Qld south could have the best front court they've had in years. Motuga, George, Betham, Bayliss, Johnston. Add Goodchild, head, kirisome and a plethora of other talented young guards.

Vic with Cochrane, puli, Frawley, Gould, plus maybe nankervis and a bunch of other choices.

Does anyone think carter, Hulland and Bowen could push out dalton, fakira and Griffiths out of the u17 squad after great showings in the ajc?
Froling and colina look to have cemented there place.

Triple the value on semi final and gold medal games to pool games.

Any coach or selector would apply this filter you would hope. Shame the rubbish that has been written about best teams etc. are so far off the mark and don't apply this approach. That said, from what I have read looks like they didn't understand what happened before their eyes in the big games either???

My opinion of women's team:
Shelley/Conti/Goodchild
Simmons//Simons/D'Angelo
Rowe/Mole
Cochrane/Pizzey
Magbegor/McSpadden

Reserves from:
Fuiavia
Cubillo
Nankervis

3 is big concern for me, but 2 guards can play up to cover and Cochrane will end up a 3

Fuiava is nz.

Agree... But different starting 5.
5'8 Shelley/5'4 Conti
5'11 Simons/5'10 Dangelo/5'9 Goodchild
5'11 Simmons/6'0 Mole/6'0 Rowe
6'5 Cochrane/6'3 Pizzey
6'4 Magbegor/6'4 mcspadden

Goodchild as cg (3rd pg).
Mole and Rowe to play small 4s on occasion.

Boys I'd go..
6'0 Dent/6'2 zunic
6'5 Elkaz/6'6 bines/6'2 MacDonald
6'7 Fullarton/6'7 johns/6'8 ring
6'10 Froling/6'10 Hulland
6'10 Colina/6'9 carter

Macdonald(or someone else) as 3rd ball handler
Johns and ring both combo forwards.
