NSW Metro or Country certainly will not be featuring in any play off standings for top 4.

What has gone wrong with the program for both 16's and 18's when you look at the results of Nationals this year.

Now that Seebohm has just done a great job to win the U17 Womens World title lets hope he can transfer some of that into producing athletes for NSW TEAMS now that he is full time there.

Also they may need to look at the State team coaching appointments to perhaps train coaches of the right calibre to lead there state teams and have the right Assistants to go with them as well.

Maybe NSW need to send people to Victoria and QLD to see what they are doing and now even WA are stepping up as well(Metro boys finish 1st in pool) and SA are stepping up also.

Arguably the best 2 women's teams on paper... Nsw country and qld south haven't performed. Before I would have said they were top 2.

The vic and sa junior programs clearly a cut above.

Credit to wa men's, very good chance of winning gold with huge front line of Buluk, Jackson and Igbenoba.

Looks like once again we will have a couple of nice u17 Aussie teams in 2018.

Can you please tell me how you explain nsw country and qld Sth as having the best 2 girls teams on paper?
Yes, they both have very strong PGs, who are very very good players, but what else makes you say they are the strongest on paper?
Nsw country had 5 bottom age players in last years team, 2 of which are playing this year, and traditionally this age group in nsw country has been Newcastle and then light years, and those 2 players who aren't playing again came from Newcastle when they dominated.
Qld Sth, yes they won last years u16s but besides their dominant PG, who else has returned, I honestly don't know.
2 years ago when this age group was u14s, 1st was Norths from Sydney who went as Heal went, 2nd and 3rd were Knox and Bulleen, of which some are this years Vic metro team, and 4th was Newcastle, of which only Palmer is in this nsw country team, and as expected she is going great guns

So although nsw country and qld Sth have got some really exciting players, to say they have the 2 best teams on paper might be stretching it a tad far, but hey I'm open to comments

Chuck Heal back in nsw metro and they obviously do a lot better, but you'd still have to say the best teams on paper were vic metro, prob followed by sa metro and wild Sth purely on the back of Heal

There we go, discuss

Some really good guards this year....
You can already see 4-5 players separating themselves from the pack.
qld Sth, nsw country, sa metro, sa country, Vic metro...

no real standouts in the big department for women's.
A bunch of girls 6'2-6'4... And some smaller forwards...
Will be interesting to see how they develop over the next 2 years.

Locandro, Hollingsworth, anstey, Nnopu, Rees, joynes, Hank, Johnson, barber, Jefferson, fowler, hannan, tratt, ayliffe are just some of the post players to keep an eye on.

It's always a long week at Nationals and the call on the NSW teams made above has turned out completely incorrect for the Metro girls. All you have to do is sneak into a semi final and from there anything can happen.

' The debut of 6'4"young forward Ashlee Hannan will be a welcomed addition to the roster for the game on Sunday. Ashlee had state U16 team commitments last week and will most likely suit up and play a significant role this week.'

'HIGHLANDER Phoebe Johnson's stature in basketball continues to grow.

Phoebe has been selected to represent the Australian Country Cup under-16s girls team to tour New Zealand next month.

The Berrima teenager is 14 years old and already stands at six foot, four inches (193cm).'

Got the chance to see a little of the Vic Metro men, they looked strong and congratulations to the team for winning gold, again.

Well done to Country Vic for recovering their win/loss ratio and getting to the top game, silver is a big effort.

Also, well done th WA Metro getting the bronze after almost going through undefeated they dropped the semi-final but got back on the horse to win a deserved bronze.

Congrats to the new metro girls making the g/f.luckily they bought quarter finals into these championships in last few years because if they hadn't then the team would not have made it through.
Bnsw still needs to look at their program because there decline over the recent years is sad and other states have stepped up while Victoria just carry on being the force they are.
What do other states do to catch up.
Congrats to WA metro boys on bronze.
The work being done over there is starting to show dividends with their results starting to come tHrough compared to how they use to finish previously.

It was un17......... Yes great achievement, but it's still a juniors tournament, and I can't see BA paying much more if anymore than BNSW do.

What position do you think he should have????????

Wouldn't have Madden in the first team.

I'd have
Wigness
Capetola or Meldrum
Buluk
Jackson
Tsapatolis

Which is scary because two of those kids are bottom age!
