Dellys contract 2016-17

Jeff Van Gundy reckons he'll get $10,000,000+. BleacherReport thinks the most likely free agent that Detroit will be Delly. Stan Van Gundy coaches the Pistons.

Is a back up point gaurd with Dellys skill set getting paid that much even with the salary cap climbing above $92,000,000? If not, what's a more likely figure you'd be happy with?

Its hard to compare obviously because of the cap rise but some of the top back ups are:
Shaun Livingstons on $5.5m a year.
Dennis Schroder on around $2m which would be his rookie contract I'm assuming.
Cory Joseph on $7.5m.
Darren Collison on $5.3m.

As annoying as it is to admit, he possibly could get $8m+.

Warriors have an absolute bargain in Livingston though

JJ Bareas on 4 a year so would want to be more than that

I would say something similar to Corey Joseph. 8m a year seems very possible. It's just hard to tell because there's gonna be so much money out there.

And to think he almost didn't make it into the league at all, and now he could possibly command more dollars than Mills.

He'll get more than Patty this off season for sure. I'd say his minimum will be 5Mil which bests patty. Saying that, Patty will get a massive pay rise next off season

Ricey if mills was a free agent tomorrow he would command more. Timing is everything in the NBA. Hope he gets some dollars if he deserves it or not, some rich owner wants to spend so be it!

Agree. Mills would get far more if he left the Spurs.

Why? Roughly the same year stat wise, delly vastly better defender, and has massively improved his point gaurd skills while also improving his shooting. Is Mills offense that much better that he'd get 'far more'?

Delly can run a team whereas Patty needs a playmaker on the floor with him to be effective

Most definitely a good chance to get 10m per year

Dare I ask what relevance that has to their respective salaries?
Should Durant be worried about his next contract seeing as he can't run a team like Delly can?

I could see Philli giving him a good contract.
If they pick Simmons they will want a good defender and 3pt shooter at PG.
Maybe 4yrs $30-35 mil.

It will be interesting to see how much the Cavs offer, they are starting to pay a crazy tax bill.
They may look at a cheaper old vet looking for a ring.

There's no contest, Patty Mills is everything a coach wants off the bench. Exceptional shooter, super fit, great team guy (see towel wave) and he hustles on d. He doesn't get enough props for his d. Delly in another setting where he has to shoulder the burden of actually running an offense and not deferring to Lebron would be interesting.

Because Mills could go be a volume scorer on a weaker team. Countless examples of those sorts of players being paid well.

The first team to offer him the minimum he should be scrambling to sign for. Absolute hack these finals. Needs to start learning those towel waves from Patty asap

Troll.

Is the worst thing you can think of to say is that he might have to take the $1.1m minimum to play basketball? What a tragedy.

1 minute, 3 fouls, 2 turnovers.

Doesn't deserve that shoe deal let alone a multi million dollar contract

Not sure what you're talking about.

36 minutes 13 points 5 assists today

Oh wait those are his entire finals stats.

Assist to turnovers of 1:1, more fouls than assists.

At this point it's trolling to say he should be in the NBA still

^ Clearly you have no clue what you are talking about. What, because his numbers have dropped through the finals you think he's worthless? Check out his stats throughout the whole playoffs you chump.

He must have bumped you to the bench in an under 12s team for you to be this blind.

Whole playoffs: 4 points 3 assists. Well shit give him the $10m ASAP

Delly is a great 3 and D guy. Who's shooting 27% from 3 and hasn't been able to defend anyone from the bench.

OH MY GOD!! Basketball player has poor stretch, he should retire and become a potato farmer back in Australia!!!

Retards. Solid defense, a 3:1 TO ratio and 40% from 3 in the regular season. Much larger sample size and therefore way more accurate. That is what he will be paid on.

Doesn't have to become a potato farmer, would probably be in the top 50% of players in the NBL

Poor stretch = Entire playoffs. The important bit of the season.

His offense wouldn't improve (less open looks without lebron demanding all the attention) but his defense would be legendary and talked of for years to come

34th overall for assists, 30th for assists per game.
So yes, he might not turn it over often, but he doesn't assist much either.
To be honest I didn't realise he would be that high for overall assists. He also missed only 6 games. Say what you want but he stays healthy.

Imo
Pg Smith/McConnell
Pg/sg Delly
Sg (draft/free agent)/Stauskas
Sg/sf Broekhoff
Sf Covington/Grant
Sf/pf Simmons
Pf Saric/Landry
Pf/c Noel
C Okafor/Embiid

Not a very long term solution.

I agree but that doesn't matter as no matter how crap Philly is delly is still not going to start for them. Teague is a stupidly good upgrade over what they have
