There are a lot of questionable players in that list who will get overpaid. I mean the sorts of players who get their stats, but the team falls short or performs better or the same without them.

@haralabob, whose analytics I put a lot of stock in, thinks that, for example, Whiteside is not worth the big deal. Same with DDR. Can't see how Howard will get $22-25m either - his value has surely dropped recently.

The only guys on that list worth picking up as starters are...

James max
Durant max
Whiteside around 20
Derozan around 20
Beal around 20
Gasol around 15
Duncan around 10

Maybe Batum, wade and Conley around 15

Everyone else is lacking a certain skill or mental fortitude.

Don't no how Barnes made USA final 12 for olympics..

Your list is probably what they're worth, not what they'll get.
Whiteside and beal will get max contracts
No chance manu gets that much
Dirk will take a pay cut like he always does if Cuban can get top shelf free agents
Is Jeremy Clarkson a free agent? Thought top gear would have resigned him by now
Jeremy Lin will probably get 10
You can say Howard has dropped off but he'll still get close to max. His output dropped due to playing next to a certain bearded player

I'm with you, Isaac, regarding Whiteside, but he'll nonetheless have his pick of ~$20m per season contracts. Dallas might be the best chance of getting their money's worth - based on what Rick Carlisle has been able to do with Chandler, Wright, Dalambert etc over the years.

The next two FA seasons are going to set some teams back a few years. Many, many players are going to be overpaid due to the number of teams with cap space and the market for mid-tier players adjusting to the new salary cap.

Given the chaos in Sacramento's front office, I wouldn't be surprised if they offered Dwight Howard a near-max contract...

I can understand trying to attract superstar players with the extra money, but to overpay average players just because the cap goes up is silly. Why pay Delly 50 million when he is only worth 20 in todays cap, keep the rest for a rainy day and try and attract good free agents in the future.

Are you saying teams shouldn't spend $50,000,000 on a back up point gaurd who can't score inside the 3 point line? That's not something you usually read on this site...

I take back what I said about Dwight. Bazemore being discussed at $19m, Mozgov at $65m over 4 years. Wow.

The Lakers....
I was worried they'd throw too much away when none of the big names were interested.....
