Only 1 quarter in, but Thon Maker is impressing.
The versatility and smarts he's showing defensively is just what Milwaukee needs, he's going to struggle at times offensively as he does get pushed around a bit, but he does actually push back which is nice to see in the least.

Liking the look of Ra'Shad James playing for the Bucks as a possible Beal replacement for the Wildcats! Has all the credentials to be available and suitable for the NBL

Casey Prather scored a team-high 23 in the Mavs win over the Hornets.

Thon Maker had 15p 13r 2b in the Bucks win over the Cavs.

Jordan McRae scored 23 for the Cavs but also had 5to and shot 3-15 from the field and 1-8 on 3pts.

Diamon Simpson also started for the Cavs and had 7p 6r 6b 4s in just 19 minutes.

Charles Jackson started for the DLS team and had 4p 3r 3s in 13 min in their loss to Memphis.

Majok Deng got a DNP-CD in Minny's loss to Denver and DeAndre Daniels very surprisingly also got a DNP-CD in Toronto's 41 point flogging of Sacramento. He was the Raptors only player who failed to get in the court.

Thon Maker continues to show with his second game that he will eventually be a legitimate NBA player.

Had 17pts (on 7-15 shots, 1-4 3s) and 17 rebounds overnight. The general consensus seems to be that he is very raw but could still develop in to just about anything.

Wilbekin is happy to sit on the bench for $400k in Europe so unless there's a new unnamed sugardaddy in CNS, he won't be back here.

Raph Putney also has been playing significant minutes for the Cleveland SL team and finished the day with 19 points to go with 6 rebounds.

He spent time with the Perth Redbacks last season in the WA SBL.

With all the FB photos and so many NBL staff over there it will be interesting to see if anyone recruits from the SL.
I suspect it's still the junket it once was.
A good coach should always know what's going on and to recycle the old names of imports again, isn't something that the NBL needs to be doing.

Putney's stint in the WA SBL was fascinating. He was largely under whelming while in WA but since returning to the D League has been putting up huge numbers. I would have thought he would dominate the WA league.

It's a shame he went to United when he was in the NBL. He would have been a much better fit for the Wildcats than DD.

So how much credit can United take for McCrae's rebirth as a player?

I know it didn't 't end well for him, so was he a square peg in a round hole at United, or was he just too young, or what?

Not sure a 2nd round pick can ever be considered a 'bust' by their nature you're taking a chance on a player and rule of thumb usually is if you get anything meaningful out of a 2nd round pick that's good.

If Thornton was a 1st round pick it would probably be a different story though.

Agree it would've been interesting to see McRae in Perth that year when we had Daniels. That team really needed someone who could create points and Perth's culture and structure might've helped keep McRae in line. It might've been the perfect fit. Kid is a professional scorer.

Not a fan of McRae's game at all. Always only looking for his own points, without the type of efficiency that you want from a scorer. He's had a few big games and that's kept teams interested enough to stick on the end of the bench, but if he doesn't learn to play with control he'll be dropping 30 points a night in Taiwan within a few years.

It just depends on the fit. Some teams need that aggressive guy who can carry an offense. To be a serious winner though you still need to play team ball but he's still young and players can learn that side of the game. Hed be a good fit for a team with strong D but lacking offensive firepower. Think cairns under fearne
