Bogut set to play in Rio!

Andrew Bogut is definitely suiting up for the Boomers at the Games starting next week, per multiple sources close to the situation.

Sources: Bogut will play in Rio

Good news for the Boomers! They lacked rim protection vs Brazil and got smashed in the paint.

Watching the game against Brazil afterwards when shaking hands Bogut talked to Nene and made a hand motion with his finger and thumb slightly apart to indicate almost or close so being a flogging thought that might've been him telling Nene he's close to beign ready to play.

I hope so anyway as it gives us our best chance and he'll probably retire from international basketball after Rio anyway.

This is massive news! Bogut being ready, turns out team from probably around 7th - 9th to a legitimate medal chance. Defensively, he will anchor us. With this team, anything less then 4th isn't good enough.

Anyone think bogut is overrated at this stage of his career? Baynes might actually be the better all around player. Bogut only plays one end of the floor and in a selective manner

He's a nice inclusion either way. (Whether he's "overrated" really comes down to whose current day rating of him you are referring to).
His offence has never been the same since his elbow injury and his general durability is obviously limited these days, but he's still capable of having an impact at the highest level.

Spot on.

His ability to make precise passes out of the post, set intelligent screens and rebound make him valuable offensively, and as he showed against NZ he can still make some big plays around the basket.

Defensively he is exactly what this team needs in order for the guards to be aggressive. The perfect guy to anchor the D.

Lol. Wash your hands after writing that shit. But with all seriousness, Baynes is the one dimensional player. He offers no defensive upside. He is only baseline level of athleticism but his lateral movement is sometimes Aleks Maricesque. Baynes can score in bunches when he is on his game, or he can miss a bunch of sitters, make stupid decisions, and make you wish he was never born. He was always better suited to being Bogut's serviceable back up on this team. The only thing Baynes can do more than Bogut is score.

Yep. Bogut is the anchor to this team. My only question is how will he be used, for how many minutes, and how fit is he?
