Hi Guys,
Is a full replay of the game available anywhere to download/stream?
Apologies if this info is already in the game thread, I'm avoiding it as I don't want to find out the result until I've watched it.

Choose Sports then Basketball.
You may have to pay the $20 to access these replays for the duration of the Olympics. It is free to Telstra Mobile Customers

If you want to watch whenever you like get a VPN and then use the BBC Olympic site. Working for me in China.
Yo, I am capturing the replay stream now. Call me old fashioned but I like to watch my sport from start to finish on a TV. Only problem it's 480p, can anyone get the replay stream to go at 720?
If I can post the file somewhere where I can be happy the IOC won't track me down....

How do you capture the stream, if you don't mind my asking?
ffmpeg and a moderate amount of swearing.
Is anyone here using a VPN and watching the BBC streams, are you able to watch the Aus basketball games on demand AND can you tell if they are at least in 720 (quality wise?), also, is there commentary?
Reason I ask I have captured the Seven stream but it's at 480p and there is ZERO commentary, which isn't terrible, but if BBC is on demand and higher resolution, I'll renew my VPN and see if I can cap then BBC source instead of the Seven stream.
Edit: worked out what the commentary issue was, when you watch the stream you're watching two streams, the video with the 'atmosphere' noise, the second stream is the default commentary... easy fix.

I just downloaded ffmpeg, unzipped it, but it has all these written files and no obvious way to run through the load up process
It works all via command prompts via.. well, the Command Prompt. Follow some how to's on Youtube on how to install the program.
Then you will then need to get the m3u8 playlist files for whatever stream you wish to capture, so for example, the Aus Vs France m3u8 is https://ep01-03sevgen-rio-obsovp-tv.akamaized.net/ovp.v37.a/riohd:v37@20160806/chunklist_b1296000_ps20160806170459_pd6946000_DVR.m3u8
You will then type a command prompt
ffmpeg -i https://ep01-03sevgen-rio-obsovp-tv.akamaized.net/ovp.v37.a/riohd:v37@20160806/chunklist_b1296000_ps20160806170459_pd6946000_DVR.m3u8 -c COPY ausvfran.ts
Then do the same for the commentary track. Putting it together in one neat little package... I haven't quite figured out yet.
it will spit the ausvfran.ts file out in your C:UsersUsername folder by default.

I was able to use that .m3u8 URL to save the raw .MP4 file straight to my PC.
What's the URL for the commentary track?

By the way, no need for any fancy software. Just use VLC Player to "Open Network Stream", paste the URL in there, and instead of pressing "Play" to watch the stream, use the drop-down button to select "Convert" instead.
(And for anyone who just wants to watch the game - do the above steps but just click on the "Play" button and you'll be able to watch the game. It'll have the effects mic audio but no commentary)

Using Google Chrome, Hold Down SHIFT+CONTROL+I
Click on the 'Network' tab, then where it says FILTER, type m3u8, the chunklist_ps, you're links are there.

You need to save the audio files as .ts but yes, the tricky element is combining the two.

Anonymous, if you make a DVD of the games at the end of the Olympics I'll buy it off ya.
If you're unable to capture the games I'm happy to try and help people get copies of the games if they want them, no money though.
I've found a marginally better stream, what I'll do is put the default commentary into the video, and where I can, will put the TV commentary in.

So I didn't have any luck with that extra commentary track unfortunately.
If someone has access to a better stream I'd be happy to help with any editing/processing needed.
The channel 7 stream averages around 1.3 Mb/s at 852x480 resolution, so it's certainly watchable, but not great. If there's something better out there I'd be interested.

I'm most disappointed by the 'premium' website, which costs $20 and crashes every time the Boomers are playing.
And still won't even let me log in using Firefox.
Just thought I would update everyone. I've managed to figure out how to download all game's replay streams to 1280x720 (720p) resolution files and lay the webstream commentary over the top.
If anyone who wants to try to download the streams using FFMPEG, I can give you the links+commands to download the 720p game webstreams.

Thanks Anon! can I ask what commands you used within FFMPEG to get the desired result file?
You need to install FFMPEG first, and youtube videos will show you how.
You then need to open Command Prompt (so type CMD into the Search Programs and files off the main 'Start' menu).
Then type
FFMPEG -i PASTE URL HERE -c copy filename.ts
Then Press Enter
It should start to copy the chunks to a .ts file. When it's done, it will stop, and you'll be able to open the resulting .ts file in VLC Media Player/Anything and it will play.
So example, for the Boomers Vs. USA game i typed
FFMPEG -i https://ep01-03sevgen-rio-obsovp-tv.akamaized.net/ovp.v37.a/riohd:v37@20160810/chunklist_b2628000_ps20160810215100_pd7466000_DVR.m3u8 -c copy ausvsusa720.ts

Thanks anon, I will give this a go. Kind of sick with stunted and choppy streams, so a downloaded copy would be great.
For those having error messages on the Premium website, you might need to delete the cookies for the seven.com.au site and then reload the site and login again.

I haven't tried other formats, you can always mux it to a mp4/mkv if you like, but that's a whole other ball game. Transport Streams are just easy when it comes to webstreams.
The commentary is a separate audio track, which you then need to manually edit into the video file - tricky. It's not the channel 7 commentary from the TV but rather commentary supplied by OBS, it's pretty basic, but if you want it I can get you the links you need to download

save the audio in TS as well. You can then open in VLC and save as a MP3.
If you open developer tools in chrome it shows you all the business of what's going on behind the scenes. I got the 720 streams by downloading the manifest files.

You may be able to use ffmpeg, but I haven't quite figured it out. I have adobe prem which I assume would do it. I'm trying to find out from someone if it's possible in ffmpeg and I'll report back

If you open developer tools in chrome it shows you all the business of what's going on behind the scenes. I got the 720 streams by downloading the manifest files.I don't really follow that? I can see three chunklist files, but I'm assuming none are 720 (given you couldn't find those earlier) and when I looked earlier none were the audio. One is now, not sure if I just made a mistake earlier or if there was some other issue. In any event, still have to determine the resolution of the files.
Not sure what's going on in the serbia file.. Mine downloaded okay, but I stopped it around 03:00:00.
When you are in the development tools, look for the two manifest files, one is the video, other is the commentary, copy the link and you'll get..

I assume the whole thing locked up, hitting q didn't do anything either. Had to press the close button, and got a 2.15GB video file that appeared to end at halftime.
And yeah, the whole thing is almost 11 hours long. Not sure what happened there.
Okay, got it.
The commentary file starts when the commentary does, not when the broadcast does, so it's impossible to automatically add the commentary track; you have to line it up manually.
The background audio included in the video file is way out of sync in Premiere, but it all lines up fine when watching the video in VLC.
"I've tried the Serbia game, but it got to 1:49:53.64 and then it just says /s in the last line of the command prompt."

You're right, commentary file needs about 7 secs cut off the front of the audio and then a merge with the video and audio from the Video Stream.

I wonder if anyone can be kind enough to explain how the manifest files and these links can be found. I'm struggling to find them; or alternatively, able to give links here. Otherwise I've got it all going, except for links to the 720 video for any game not listed above. Cheers.

You don't actually need the manifest files.
In Chrome, click on the menu, then More Tools, then Development tools. In the text box at the top, type 'm3u8'. Then load the game.
A bunch of files will show up, you're looking for the ones that start with 'chunklist'. Chunklist_ps is the audio, chunklist_b are the various video resolutions.
After the B is a number, which is the bandwidth allocated for that video stream. So the higher the number, the higher the resolution. 2628000 is the 720p file.
When you enter the code in the command prompt, it will pop up with stream details including the resolution, so you can double check there to make sure you have the right file.
