Second import to be signed by the Hawks. Back-up big for Ogilvy.

Lets hope the do 'kill it on the boards" because it has been a glaring weakness for a few seasons.

How good is this years NBL looking. Lets hope it can ride some Boomers momentum into a new era.

A Boomers medal leading into the most hyped NBL season in eons would be a perfect storm. Talent level is ridiculous this year, can't wait.

Bevo on the signing:

"With [Aleks] Maric coming back this season and with your [Nat] Jawais' and your [Cameron] Bairstows’ I think it’s going to be a really physical league this year so we made the decision to fight fire with fire," Beveridge said.

“We still want to have our up and down game, obviously Rotnei will fit in well there but I thought it’s where we got hurt last year particularly in the finals where Jawai, Matty Knight and Jervis just hammered us.

“[Holyfield] loves physical play, a very very good rebounder if he was playing 40 minutes he’d be averaging 23 rebounds, he’s got good hands and he’s quite mobile. He likes to dunk and anything he gets offensively he wants to throw it down.”

Agreed with the talent level, gonna feel like it's the late 80's early 90's again, good aussie talent staying, good imports coming back, bumper crowds everywhere, marketing is picking up, sponsors are starting to come on board..

Hopefully the crowds will be like that time, but the talent level is streaks ahead. Talent per team could well be even better than around turn of millennium, which was the previous high point.

Last season was at about that level and I think we're going up another notch. Hopefully it's a fun season, Redding will be important for entertainment factor.

Fair and consistent is the name of the game..

Speaking of reffing, I don't know what to think of refs in the NBA allowing 6-7 steps like Carmelo did to take a three and other examples. Haha

Seems like travelling is not a big deal over there.

Its gonna take more that great talent on the floor to get mainstream media and therefore sponsors to take the NBL seriously. The league has had so many bad stories that alot of people just remember teams folding.

Every club needs to preform even better off court than on the court and game nights have to be amazing experiences, constanlty updatign and upgrading so the NBL is a great entertainment package.

Perth and Melbourne seem to be doing a decent job of game night entertainment and experience.. I'd expect Sydney and Brisbane to do the same this year.

NZ needs a lot of work.
