Funny THE ABA WEEKEND - ROUND 15

Well, the June long weekend is over and for at least 4 teams, so is the season. This leaves the top 6 fighting it out for the 5 finals spots and with Woodville assured of a finals birth and the mavs pushing hard, that leaves little room for error for Sturt, North, Fville and Southern.

Round 15 is going to shape the way the final five could turn out, with some of the top 6 teams facing off.

The rounds games are:
Saturday night.
Norwood host Southern.
North host Sturt.
Fville host West.
Eastern host Woodville.
Centrals host South.

Sunday 1:15 and 3pm.
Southern host Fville.
Sturt host Eastern.

What are the predictions? If anyone thinks Blue Collar knows his stuff, mine are:
Saturday.
Norwood are tough at home, but Southern are more mature this year and expect Pochintesta to come back and give them even more power offensively.
Sturt to defeat North with Oscar featuring. Sturt have the young guards to match it with those of North and should restrict Hawkes enough to win.
Fville should easily continue Wests bad season. Simply too big.
Eastern in one of the best games we are likely to see this year. I just think Eastern are tough at Mt Barker.

Central v South, who cares...

Sunday.
Southern to beat the favoured Fville. Southern will be coming off a win the previous night and will be full of spirit.

Eastern will continue to have the wood over Sturt who will miss Williams' efforts to restrict Holmes.

There you have it, the lunch pail is empty, now back to work.

Two Sturt games? Goodbye precious weekend...

My tips: Southern over Norwood, but could be close. Sturt to beat North at home. Forestville to kill West. Eastern to get over Woodville with Ng and Holmes unstoppable for their respective teams, but Mt Barker is a stronghold. South over Centrals.

On Sunday, Forestville to beat Southern. And Sturt to knock off Eastern, Bauer with 30.

Isn't Jason back by now?

Indeed - he also mentioned Classics results too. Go Boti.

Is Pochintesta playing? If so, I say Tigers to go 2-0 and firm their playoff position.

Sunday will be a cracker, get to MV!!

What a cracker of a weekend deep in the bowels of winter (it feels like it anyway) Sturt, Southern, Eastern and Fville all with 2 games - anyone going 0-2 could be in trouble

My Tips
Norwood host Southern. Can Norwood play spoilers on planet Mars? Any other year I say yes but this game is just to important for the Tigers and with Poke-in-toaster returning to warm up the crumpets I say Tigers by 10

North host Sturt. The ramifications on this one are huge if the Rockets win they can go close to booking a finals spot. My Tip though is Sturt by 4

Fville host West. Pero & Rees v Bell Hmm Fville by as much as they want but the bench will get some burn. Fville by 17

Eastern host Woodville. A big game with some quality matchups but Woodville too deep in a close one by 6

Centrals host South. Whatever!! Centrals by 5

Southern host Fville. Sunday slugfest at the cage - who expended more energy the night b4. Fville slightly too big in a tight one by 8

Sturt host Eastern. Another biggie at the 'Dena' no J-Will will hurt the Sabres on this day Eastern by 12

There you have it so many good games - get a beanie and a scarf on and get to a game or 2

Peace

Looks to be a weekend of 'freeze your ass off at your local tin shed' basketball. I don't think clubs will be setting any sausage sizzle records this weekend.
I don't envy Southern, F'ville, Eastern & Sturt having the double headers, it will be tough keeping warm & getting enthused on the Sunday.

I see a few upsets in the air. Norwood are starting to play better but Billy Hopkins has got the Southern boys playing together & Southern to win by 13.

North over Sturt by 7. The SASI Sabres have a 2 gamer and desperately need to win both. When was the last time Sturt lost 2 over a weekend? Sturt need Gower to turn into Merlin and be a bit more unpredictable.

F'ville to tall for West by 19, Paul Bell to set a world record for drop steps & up & under moves.

Eastern were wacked by 20+ last game against the warriors. Reggie Vs Holmes the match up of the round. I'm looking at an OT game with Eastern up by 3.

Centrals to beat South. Why, I have no idea. Maybe the South guys will miss the turn off or something.

The Sunday games are $3 mystery bets with whoever recovers best from Saturday the winner. The F'ville twin towers might take 2 qtrs to get their engines running & Southern could jump them early. I'm going Tigers by 5.

I'm predicting Sturt to go 0-2 this weekend, so Eastern to win comfortably.
