It's a numbers game

I need the Forum's help: which singlet number has the most great basketballers? I've come up with a few and it would be nice to get a few more for some hypothetical 5 on 5 matches.

It would also be worth noting for any juniors out there wanting to become guns: screw your favourite number, get ahead by picking a singlet number which all the great basketballers wear.

So far the strongest numbers I've come up with off the top of my head are:

#23 (good backcourt, but any bigs?)
Jordan
Lebron
Mitch Ritchmond

#32 (along with #33, possibly the strongest lineup at this stage)
Magic
Shaq (circa Orlando)
McHale
Karl Malone

#33
Bird
Pippen
Kareem
Ewing

#34
Shaq (circa LA and Heat)
Barkley
Olajuwon

More contributions welcome - I'm sure there's tonnes I've forgotten.

That's funny - all the #3s are guards who, if it was up to them, would shoot it every single time they had it.

I add Ben Wallace to that team to give it some height, team play, defense and a cool hairdo.

Wait a minute: didn't Tom Chambers wear #24 for Phoenix as well? Why, that's two out of the five needed for the "White Guys Named Tom Wearing #24" team!

Now for the other three...

To clear up this confusion, let's just give Isiah #21 and move on.

I was trying to think of some gun #00 players besides Robert Parish, and wasn't coming up with many. Anyone got some other #00s?

It's official: steer away from #00 if you want to have a long and productive hoops career.

(Parish is the exception that proves the rule)

#47178,

The difference between #0 and #00 is like the difference between a party and a par-tay.

Without doubt, #32 is the most decorated basketball number in basketball history.

PG Magic Johnson
SG Sean Elliot
SF Julius Erving
PF Kevin McHale

6 Bill Walton
7 Karl Malone
8 Jason Kidd (circa Phoenix)
9 Charles Barkley
10 Amare Stoudemire
11 Fred Brown
12 Billy Cunningham

Apologies: Rip Hamilton, Jamaal Mashburn, Brian Winters, Antwan Jamison, Christian Laetenner
