What if the NBL allowed trades during the season?

Prior to the launch of the 2016/17 NBL season, the league announced a number of broad reforms to its player contract and salary cap rules. Highlights of the rule changes included the removal of the player points system, up to 3 import players per roster, a marquee player system, increase to the salary cap and implementation of the 'soft cap', allowing clubs to go over the cap but pay a tax to do so, amongst other things.

As we all know, unlike the NBA, the NBL does not allow franchises to trade players (up to a mid-season trading deadline). But, what if they could?

What if the NBL allowed trades during the season?

Unless the teams cover the cost of moving and rent (or if home owner an agreed upon amount the property could get on the market) then it couldn't work

Is there actually a rule preventing a trade from going through? Essentially it's little different to one team cutting a player and another signing them. There might not be an official framework for it, but why couldn't it happen if the clubs and their players were interested?

Obviously the players would be insane to sign a contract permitting it unless moving/settling costs were covered, but I imagine that's more of an issue than the league permitting it.

If this board banned trolls and tards, it would lose 90% of its posters.
