Why does NBL TV advertise on hoops forum?

I'm not trying to dis hoops forum here I'm a regular visitor and enjoy it thoroughly.

But it's quite clearly a community of established basketball fans.

Why would you be advertising NBL TV product here? Everyone here already knows about it or has a subscription I'm sure.

You'd be better off spending your advertising dollars on a general Sports website than a specialist Aussie basketball forum where we primarily talk about NBL!

A lot of readers here aren't necessarily NBL fans but following ABL or juniors.

yes I agree. preaching to the converted seems like thoughtless usage of advertising money. on the other hand I am happy that this forum is getting a few dollars so I'm not going to complain too loudly about it but you make a good point.

Brand recognition. Over many years Isaac and his team of helpers have run a great SA basketball forum which due to other site failings has become a NBL / national forum. Recognition and support to the fan base works a lot better when it is a two way street.

Having NBL TV as a sponsor adds legitimacy to the site and at the same time allows an opportunity for the people that use hoops for their own levels of the sport to know where to find the NBL. Not much negative talk on this site, all of us agree the product is a huge improvement on the previous 8 years.

Great pick up Isaac

Also easier to convert general basketball fans than general sports fans.

OK, I wasn't aware that there were many "general", non-NBL fans on here, as most of the threads are NBL-related. Maybe its just because that thats what I come here looking for that I get confirmation bias that this forum is primarily discussion by NBL fans.

I'm a general basketball fan (predominantly NBA) but non NBL fan, not that I have anything against it. The advertising lured me in for a look.

Off topic but a question for Isaac.
Why allow everyone to post as anon?

Anon posting increases volumes substantially. Amongst that you get good and you get bad, but generally more activity is a good thing

Not when anons continually abuse that privilege to muckrake everything that Dazz and KR say.

Businesses marketing to the "converted" isn't uncommon and while it may seem counter intuitive, there are good reasons for it

Because posting under names such as Dazz and KR makes me immediately recognize them, has happened in the past when trolls just change their names and argue the same point but still have the same IP address.
