Any chance they throw positions out the window and just pick the 5 that deserve it?
Randle, Ware, Lisch, Craig and Prather would be easily the best 5.

The NBL criteria are three outside players and two inside players.

1st Team:

Lisch
Randle
Prather
Craig
Johnson

2nd Team:

Ware
Clarke
Newley
Whitto
Ogilvy

Anyone who doesn't have Randle or Lisch in their first team doesn't know what they're talking about. Ware is a close 3rd tho.

Centre position is weak as, which is not what I expected heading into this season. Andersan and Ogilvy underperforming and Khazzouh not playing hasn't helped.

I can't work out wether it's a lack of big man issue in this guard forward heavy league to have dj as the 1st team anything, or that jawai hasn't been anywhere near where I thought he would be in the nbl. Either way feels like Dj is in purely due to needing someone anyone, he isn't as good as he used to be by a long shot.

^Anonymous, I think a big part of the reason the league has become so guard dominant is that referees are calling fouls on players defending drives to the basket, while allowing much heavier contact in the paint.

Part of this is that there are so many beasts in the league like Jawai, Ogilvy, Maric et al. Because they are so big and strong, they can hold their ground against heavy contact, often getting their arms up to shoot the ball, in spite of being draped like a coat rack in defenders.

The fact that Johnson is being almost universally picked as the best big (at least in this forum) is testament to that - he's not exactly a back to the basket player, is he? Similarly, Kickett, in his first year with MU, was mostly a 3 point shooter, and the only big anywhere near MVP.

I wonder if this emphasis is as a result of the league's desire for a flashy product that's more exciting for the general public.
