Sixers knocked out of the Blitz

The NBL Blitz Quarter Finals began with a blockbuster match-up between the Adelaide 36ers and the heavily touted Brisbane Bullets, with the Queensland team scoring a 52-45 victory to advance to the Semi Finals.

Mick Hill led the Bullets with 16 points while emerging young talent Callum Baines added 15. Willie Farley was the best for the 36ers with 13 points and David Cooper added 12.

In a slow first half, both teams appeared tired from a hectic pre-season schedule the Sixers adjusting sooner with patient offensive execution.

The combined inside presence of Mark Bradtke and Bobby Brannen forced the Sixers to look outside to shooters Oscar Foreman and Brett Maher.

A baseline dunk followed by a last-second jumper from David Cooper pushed Adelaide to an eight-point half-time lead.

Baynes exploded in the second to spark an early Bullets revival. A one-step dunk thundered home on transition started his run. He then denied Paul Rees in the post with an explosive block.

A dunk in the face of David Cooper finished Bayne's mini-blitz and drew hoots of approval from the Bullets bench, now leading by six.

Mick Hill also led the charge for the Bullets in the second, connecting on consecutive three-pointers before driving strong to the basket.
