***warning HOBART CHARGERS post***

crowd at tonights chargers game was unofficially announced as being 2,200. the venue itself presented amazingly and i love seeing it host basketball again after some 20 years.

however the center/chargers event staff/management was extremely poor!

spectators waiting close to 90mins to actually get into the stadium, seat allocation being appalling, kiosk waiting times close to 30mins and on top of that they ran out of food well before half time of the mens.

corporate boxes got the rough end of the deal with some not receiving food until VERY late in the final quarter of the mens game and drinks that most definitely weren't free flowing. hardly worth the crazy money they wanted for them to begin with.

Rob Heyer and Mathiang Muo both look like amazing pickups for the chargers, but Chris Whitehead despite 12 assists looks like he'll need time to find his groove.

absolutely convinced based on numerous calls tonight the local referees hate the chargers players in general.

How about you book the tickets online? Its easy cobber.
The box office opens 2 hours before tip off for the ladies. Don't turn up late and complain here.
2000 + people and you complain about the food queue? Try living in Sydney or Melbourne and see how you go.
Free flowing drinks have never been an option either. Aren't you there to watch the game?

This Thunder team were probably one of the worst teams I have ever seen represent the Thunder name.
Teething problems will always be an issue and the DEC needs to sort that out in a hurry.

Rangers got put to the sword against the Braves, both teams...

^both Ranger teams have had little prep time the women especially , both teams had players missing, and from all accounts the refs for the women were atrocious , but that's nothing new for bendigo games .

Why do SEABL insist on starting the season so soon after the end of WNBL its just crazy, they could easily push the start back two or three weeks to allow those players that are in the final weeks to either rest up, or at least be able to train and have a few scratch matches before the season starts considering how many WNBL players play SEABL., the men at least have a couple of weeks.

Rangers new imports for the men are still to be cleared to play after loosing their initial imports both to injury
Expect to see a very different result next time these teams meet.

Go Chargers

Teething issues are one thing the night was great. It was a double headed but keen on seeing how the fans go at the middle of the season.

41pts for the Thunder, they looked really bad. Torns youngsters looked in shock with the size of the game.

Great to see SEABL season back

it was hardly about prepaying for tickets! one entry open and a line which was seemingly for pre and post purchase tickets.

personally i purchased tickets a solid week prior and walked straight past the line and in the door.

its an easy fix and mostly come back on the venue but i guess we'll see how that goes.

Afaik the venue had their 2 ticket windows open. Mixed price ranges and configurations need to be limited to only 2. 1500 or so people turning up effectively at once wad the issue.

It's heading for a very lopsided seabl season already.

Gotta love the seabl tips. Thunder by 6.
Vs the real world of Chargers by 57.
2000+ people at a Seabl regular season game would have to be a record surely? The winning margin surely? The lowest score ever (17) at half time surely?

You would think SEABL as the so called second tier of professional basketball in Australia would do a much better job of promoting and reporting
Some of the game reports from first round are so off the mark
Same as team reviews, they really need to get their act together BigV has it all over them right now on the media side... and money side from many accounts

You actually have to give a sh!& about the league in order for it to be successful. Can't get WNBL on tv what makes you think the league coverage in SEABL would be any better?

Yes very true but SEABL is run by a different committe so you would think they might have their act together BigV do

Heard a whisper yday that many teams are becoming unhappy with BA and SEABL.
Equally it's not the 1st time this has surfaced.

SEABL will ditch the public servant like BA soon as the NBL did. They are leeches who contribute nothing yet tax you for the privilege.
