Lightning sign Lauren Nicholson

THE MAC Adelaide Lightning have added a further potential star to their 2017-18 WNBL roster, securing Sydney free agent and national junior Lauren Nicholson.

A member of the Flames' 2016-17 WNBL champion, Nicholson, 24 and 182cm, joins a revamped Lightning squad which already has signed Aimie Clydesdale, Nicole Seekamp, Natalie Novosel, Abby Bishop and Ruth Hamblin.

Last season's import Colleen Planeta may play on as an Aussie, with Sarah Elsworthy and Chelsea Brook already inking Lightning deals.

Nicholson, who came off the Flames' bench last season, averaged 5.1 points at 48 per cent and 2.5 rebounds in 19 games.

planeta was very good last season - would love to see her back in wnbl.

If you add hodges, ciabatoni etc - looks very formidable.

The development players are in a development group they will no doubt be on the bench for homes games.

Need another tall to give hamblin a break and cover if she gets injured - hodges or plaenta would be fantastic although 4s.

Some heavy guards presence there, hope Clydesdale hasn't made a mistake moving from rangers, she was a guaranteed starter and captain there, if they do manage to land Philips too, that would probably not make for happy campers on that guard roster.

Simons would slot in there nicely as backup sf.
Still got a year at coe though?

Thompson would slot in nicely as a 3/4 coming off the bench.

Talbot would be great but think she is heading to Europe again. Starting for Phoenix Mercury at the moment and playing well as a defensive minded 3.

I think Simons would finish up at COE at end of year which would fit in with WNBL season
