With the SA teams about to venture off to the national championships, have the teams had any trial games against each other? The metro girls list from all accounts is decent and there is a lot of hype about the metro boys also. What are the Country teams like? Are they similar to metro?
Trial game was played on Saturday I believe between the two.
Sa metro teams are deeper than country teams.
Sa metro men have great guards. Lots of shooters and great defense.
Sa metro women have a nice front court. Biggest in the tournament.
From what I hear metro boys fairly easily.
Country girls in a close one.
Vic metro / Bulleen girls don't have much to worry about unless country girls get through. Not sure why metro girls are rated so highly
Country girls are just ok but the country boys are awful
Country girls deafeated metro by about 4, metro boys deafeted country by 20 +.
Any predictions to where the SA teams will finish?
Metro boys top 4
Metro and Country girls 8-10
Country boys 12-14
Metro boys have a group of high quality Sturt boys who know how to win and could medal. The girls should finish top 8 if they are all fit but likely to be 4-8. The SAC girls lack height but have some solid guards and should finish 8-10. The boys have some talent and could finish 8-10 as well, but depth (as usual) is their issue.
Country boys have trouble scoring unfortunately. In last weekends trial game metro were virtually scoring transition baskets off SAC guard turnovers and poor shot selection. Metro haven't got any one stand out player but play very well as a unit to share the load, their pressure defense is awesome.Going to be a long week for the Country boys.
