NZ name Tall Blacks squad for Asia Cup

Full NZ Tall Blacks Asia Cup Squad:
Sheal Ili (NZ Breakers)
Finn Delay (NZ Breakers)
Derone Raukawa (NZ Breakers)
Reuben Te Rangi (Brisbane Bullets)
Ethan Rusbatch (NZ Breakers)
Jordan Ngatai (NZ Breakers)
James Hunter (NZ Breakers)
Tohi Smith-Milner (Melbourne United)
Sam Timmins (University of Washington Huskies/NCAA)
Dyson King-Hawea (Nunawading Spectres/SEABL)
Isaac Letoa (Wellington Saints/NZNBL)
Luke Aston (Southland Sharks/NZNBL)
Head Coach Paul Henare and his staff cut the squad of 15 down to 12, with no player in the team older than 26 which he sees as an opportunity to develop.

"The great thing about young players is their eagerness to learn and the freshness with which they approach everything. Many of them have had a taste of international basketball with the Select team, but they know that this is another level, I am fascinated to see how they react to the chance they have been given." said Henare.

Whilst we do have significant unavailability of senior players, and whilst the move will benefit us in the future, I can't help but feel the jersey has been cheapened.

Quite balance on every position, more experienced players like Te Rangi, Ili, Raukawa, Ngatai, Hunter and Delany would be the core. It is interesting to see if anyone from this crop emerge in the Asia Cup tournament.
