PL Prelim Finals

Will the two top seeded teams go out in straight sets?

Can West men stop Starling?

Certainly interesting they both lost. Is the week off an advantage? And will it now hurt the two teams already through to the GF?

Starling had his way with West a few weeks ago & put up 26 & 19 at the weekend so fair bet he'll have a big game!

Let Starling get his, just have to limit the rest and make Miller shoot 30%.

North adelaide bench scoring against southern
= 6 points

West adelaide bench scoring against Norwood
= 27 points

This could be the difference.

Can Ridgeway have an impact against anyone over 6'3 or 75kg?

How many did Southern have off the bench?

Southern tigers only had 10 points off the bench, it seemed like a really low scoring game.

North Adelaide only played 8 deep.
Mapunda with 22 mins for 4 points.
Wernham with 14 minutes for 2 points
Aistope with 8 minutes for 0 points.

Be interesting to see how the legs of the starters go.
This limited bench scoring is in contrast to the last game of the regular season where North smashed West.
When they still played 8 deep, but Aistope scored 20.

Will be an interesting game when we all squeeze into hillcrest!!

Why couldn't north do a Norwood and forget to book hillcrest so it can be in a stadium that can seat more than 47 people and a small asthmatic poodle.

Geez they really aren't fit enough to run out one game a week? Why not just reward the finals teams with the best refs?

That anonymous #929 would be commonsense. Do not be silly.

Even if there were a panel of 7 or 8 & replace one for each GF. Nothing like a bit of consistency for the finals series.

Have the refs been any good in finals?

Maybe they're not rested, maybe they're not the best ref's anymore

In the games I have seen (two non elimination games) no the refs haven't been good!!!

Maybe you need to listen to people who post inside information. Should they, no. But the 5 on the preliminaries will not be on the grand finals. So the question really needs to be asked do the teams fighting for a spot in the grand final deserve the best referees available. You would expect the answer to that is yes.

More importantly - North beat West by 20 only a few weeks ago. Why will Saturday be any different?

Norwood beat West both times during the season and lost last week by double digits. Shit happens in finals. Plus you have a referee crew with no crew chief. Shit might get real very quickly.

Who does that benefit??

Was a fair bit on the line round 18. West could have had a double chance. Not sure they have an answer for Starling.

Cool. Let's roster 2nd string refs. Brilliant idea. The biggest game of the season for 4 teams hoping to make the grand final and the league does not appoint its best referees. The current allocated referees in answer to your question benefits no one.

Some great basketball games.

In the men. North v West.
At the Port, West won, At Hillcrest, West were smacked around. You would think Miller and Starling would put on a show. Miller has had 5 30+point games this season, Starling 4. It's like whack a mole, when one is down, the other one pops up. Its hard to see West get this one, but fairytales do come true to those who are nice to leprechauns. I'm tipping the bits from the Port will have a long, sad drive home in the rain.

In the women. Tigers v Flames
Tigeresses were minor premiers and the Flames have been the benchmark for about the last 10 seasons. The girls from the South have been the fly in the cappuccino of the Flames and have beaten the girls from the Parade on both occasions so far. Is it third time lucky? Tigers have smashed the bottom 5 teams with an average score of 92 to 54, but the other teams in the top 5 they have had an average score of 73 to 66. Flames, it's 82 to 57 and 69 to 76.
They say in war, never underestimate an old man in a profession where you die you. For me, this is the Tigers game to lose and those "old women" from Norwood to steal. Don't write off the Flames, but in this close one, I'm tipping the Tigers to squeeze past in the final quarter in single figures.

Refs out of their depth at Hillcrest. Who is responsible for that crazy decision. Whoever it is they should take a fall for it.

Wasn't there but did the refs have anything to do with the fight or was it between player and coach?

Any truth in rumours West already approaching a lawyer to intimidate BSA to delay hearings to allow player to play next week. Kids at training today mimicking what happened. For once will BSA show some courage and leadership
