Hawks sign import swingman Demitrius Conger

The Illawarra Hawks are excited to announce the signing of import Demitrius Conger for the upcoming 2017/18 NBL campaign.

A 6"6' small forward, Conger brings a wide array of skills to Illawarra, including the willingness to fast break, a crisp, deep shooting action, and the ability to finish at the rim.

A Brooklyn native who has applied his trade throughout Europe in recent years, Conger comes to the Hawks following four years of professional basketball in Italy, Greece and most recently Belgium, playing for the Antwerp Giants where he averaged 11.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 42 games played.

He looks the goods, exactly the skillset and type of player the hawks have been missing and much less of a gamble than the imports they've had the last few years.

very nice, predict he'll be be great to watch

King Conger is a good scorer but brings some intangibles that teams usually love out here. Will fit right into the community and be someone that they come to love very quickly

How good are some of these import names!

Like the new Breakers import - DJ Newbill from Strawberry Mansion!

Uninspiring but hopefully is an upgrade on what they had last year

Definitely an upgrade.

Hawks have learnt they don't have the luxury of an import with little experience.

Conger seems to be well traveled with the experience they need.

Get a Redhage vibe from him.

wouldn't say his uninspiring, he seems like a solid hard working, all round player but not a headline superstar

the hawks aren't a headline super star team, they are a team of sold hard working players that work well together

it got them to the GF (even with the exception of Harris) so I'd say this is the perfect signing for them

NBL & Hawks are saying Conger is 6'6" yet his wikipedia page lists him as 6'4".

Nets pre-draft in 2013 listed him at 6'4 3/4" no shoes and 6'6" with shoes. Nice wingspan 6'10 3/4".

I hear he is flying from the New York to Australia via Dubai. So it's Atlantic stretch.

Shoes on...
"Uninspiring but..." From someone that doesn't back that statement up.
