Interesting tidbit. Just read that Pero is being inducted in to the next Basketball HOF class, wiher the Dream Team, Shaq and Kukoc are he big notables.
Apart from one remarkable WC run where he was named All Tourney 5, what is Pero being recognised for? Longevity and service to NZ basketball? Not saying he doesn't deserve it, just curious.
I really don't get it, sounds like they wanted a kiwi and he was their best option lol
Doesn't deserve it imo, who's next, Warrick Giddy? Terrible decision, Kirk Penney has done more and he's still playing. All for international selections for contributions but like OP, what has he really done apart from keeping local McDonald's in business.

Amazingly he seems to have not put on any weight since he retired.
So going by that Boti piece he puts a lot of weight on the fact NZ beat us in 2001 to qualify for the World Championships.
Ummm... that has more to do with Phil Smyth being exposed as a dud coach rather than Pero. Pero should send a thank you note to Phil.
