Coach Trevor Gleeson called for an impromptu press conference on Thursday afternoon to make the surprise announcement.
"It gives me great pleasure today to announce we've got a new signing at the Wildcats," he said.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Ethan into the Wildcats family.”
He said the talented youngster impressed at training on Wednesday.
“I don’t think too many players have taken Angus (Brandt) to the cleaners on the post, so I was quite impressed to look and see on his first basket he’s schooling the older boys!”
