ASEAN Basketball League announced today three new teams for their upcoming season and surprise surprise one team is from China's CBA.

They've trumped what LK wanted to do and now even have more teams than us.

One team each now from:

They're also pulling from and entertaining a population of 2B+ people.

Yes of course Isaac.

But LK's aim of getting China involved with the NBL somehow goes down a lot due to this move.

NBL should enter a team in this league featuring 2 imports and the NBL development players, it's a nice little league to follow which has the potential to grow into something big.

Definitely will be good to see an Aussie based team next year.

I think the development team with imports idea is a good one - players taken from all teams who want to designate a guy, and a couple of SEABL-level imports.

Lets be honest the only team that would even challenge an NBL side would be a CBA team and thats only cause of the import$$

2 imports and all other players 24 and under would work IMO.
What city would the team be based in ?

Darwin for location reasons as it is a SE Asian league.

I was responding to "even have more teams than us" as though that was a metric for league quality.

Any LK plan with China is realistically going to be donkey hopping up and down trying to get Shrek's attention. Suits us more than them.
