Frankston Stadium re development a no go

How did it come to this?

Bad news just seems to keep following the club since Bill was let go a few years ago.

As someone mentioned elsewhere, buy an old Masters site and redevelop that into a new Stadium precint.

Development will possibly still go ahead but will just have less money and maybe at another site. Still $9 mill on the table and more potentially coming from the feds.

Firstly, sad news for the overall project, does anyone know why the council pulled their funds?

Secondly, I agree that maybe they should look at what Geelong did and locate a suitable old factory of some kind and consider a renovation and build.

Geelong turned over an unused timber framing factory into a 6 court venue within 4 months, no council there to take their canteen money any longer and they now run their own show with a profit.

Not sure of the circumstances down Frankston way, but they may have other more viable options with the funds they have left over.

No matter what decisions Frankston make they seem to get things wrong in all facets, its been a real worry down there for a while now.

Too many egos in the way.
Not sure what they had to hide, but wouldn't disclose all financials.
A debacle all round.

It doesn't make sense for FDBA to still update the current stadium because council will own it in 10 years.

How old are you Hmmm? It's a cess pit now and was the same 20 years ago. Great idea let's do nothing for the next 10 years because the council will own it. Buy some better drugs kiddie.

The problem is the rent right? So when council get ownership they will charge what they were going to charge in the first place if not more. Or they can give it to a new tennant like the YMCA who has plenty of money. So I am old enough to know not to sink money into something I can be kitcked out of in 10 years. They are better off building their own elsewhere or buying another building. So no drugs needed

I think a green fields site will allow them to do more with less $$, and if the state gov and feds are still on board, I reckon they'll be able to find somewhere and build something decent.

Agree though, have to do it properly, not quickly, and given they've got something like nine years left on their lease there is no reason to rush, especially as both local MPs will be keen to make more funding announcements close to next year's elections.

Hey just read they have entered YL teams this year. Only 3 years ago agter a formal review they pulled out as YL was a waste of time. What is going on down there.

Yes, apparently they were the only Association that knew better than to have YL teams. That worked out well!!!
Now they have to start back in YL2, why would talented kids want to stay there.
They need to get rid of whoever is in charge and start again.
All downhill since Runchey left.

The current admin haven't quite ticked any boxes on or off the court.
Time for a new CEO and Pres? Perhaps fresh ideas and mindset would get things moving again.

Feel free to take Bill back. The results at Sandringham over the last few years have not been great. At least Frankston juniors look to be on the improve.

Yeah, the Big V girls winning the YL Championship and a few players making State & Aus teams. Not flash. Check how the YL teams did at Franga, oh that's right they don’t have any, lol.

Try Sandringham Under 14 girls finish third in VC-Reserve, and Under 12, 16 and 18 girls don't make VC or VC-Reserve. Try top finishing boy's teams in under 12 and 16 finish seventh in VC. Look at where second and third teams finished in each age group.
Under 16 boys state rep and emergency from 2017- no longer playing at the club.
Certainly not all Bill's fault- but the high-spending Sabres model is not delivering just yet.

Good to see the Pres coming out in the media and confirming they will negotiate with the Govt directly. My goodness is that the same as making direct contact and relationships with Duke and UNC lol!!!!
