Let's talk about the pronouncation of Tokoto

Commentators love saying Toe-Koe-Toe but it looks Japanese to me in origin and they always use short vowel sounds

So for mine it's T-KoTo

Anyone got the good word?

There was a clip of a TV reporter asking him to confirm the pronounciation of his surname, it wasn't 'T-KoTo'.

It looks Japanese, but isn't. His grandpappy is Cameroonian (according to wikipedia). If it was Japanese, the JBA would be all over him to play for the National Team - sadly it's not.

Some east/west African family names look deceptively Japanese, so i don't fault you.

If it was Japanese it would probably still be pronounced Toe-kotoe anyway
