Casey Prather injury implications

I have a friend who works for United. They expect Prather will miss at least 1 month, if not more.

There's 8 weeks left in the season, United are middle of the table, and they're now without their best player.

Does anyone else think they'l sign a replacement import?

The United have done this successfully before, his name is Garrett Jackson.

If that's garret Jackson who played for the Kings last year, loooool, I'm pissing my self. Should run with what they have at present.

Carrera still in the country?

Carrera's on-court attitude has killed any chance of another NBL contract

I won't complain if they sign a gun short term, but I'd be just as happy to see them run with the current group and give Moller a go. If Goulding steps up to what he's capable of United should stay in the 4 anyway

I wouldn't be surprised if this helped, much like Goulding's surgery at the start of the season.

It would do Melbourne's other guys some good to be forced to step up and carry the load in his absence - Ware & CG43 in particular.

Force Ware & CG43 to find form and hopefully look a bit more urgent on the floor.

If its only 4 weeks a short term replacement might hurt more than help.

Just been announced he's out for 8 weeks.

Aww man. Gotta go big here. 8 weeks is the penultimate round and that's only a minimum, so he may not even make it back this season.

Get a stud. Won't win the championship otherwise

Devondrick Walker?

Exactly who I was thinking, but he won't be healthy in time to play his 25 per cent for playoff eligibility

Pretty out of the box, but they could send a rep over to the G League showcase in January and snatch someone of quality

Andrew White III looks okay from the G League. Not the penetrator of Prather, but if Casper can grow a pair and Goulding can put pressure on the rim, then this guy would be a great complement

I think they have the potential to be a better team with the right guy.

Deadeye shooter who can defend. Paul Carter from the Breakers last year?

Such an exciting time rn

On a similar topic does anyone have an update on Devondrick Walker and when he is cleared to play.

"Exactly who I was thinking, but he won't be healthy in time to play his 25 per cent for playoff eligibility"

are you referring to Prather's eligibility to play finals?

He will be placed on an injury list and the games he misses will be counted towards his eligibility.

apologies....just realised you were referring to Walker.
Will open eyes next time...

2-3 months. So that means the absolute best case scenario is he misses the entire regular season.

Will be interesting if Melbourne sign a gun import and Prather is fit for playoffs.

Carrick Felix? Great signing. Prather is probably a better player, but this guy will make United a better team

Carrick Felix is exactly the type of player Vickerman stated they were looking for. Very recently waived by Washington Wizards.

I wouldn't be shocked if this is true.

It's inadvertent genius from United (if it is Felix). Sign the best player in the league so no rivals can touch him. He isn't a super fit but it's still good because he's so talented. But now that he's out, get a better fit to make the team better than it was before

Only thing I know about him is that Carrick Felix was fairly handy when using the Cavs on 2k14 lol

Hopefully the commentators will have learnt now that "it's only a dislocation" isn't the right thing to say at the time of the injury.

Boti today:

Prather dislocated his elbow against Illawarra at The Sandpit in one of those dreadful "look away" incidents. (And when teammates, fans and viewers have to look away, imagine what the player is going through!)

The star import and dual-NBL champion at Perth will miss a minimum of eight weeks. The word I'm hearing is Melbourne United is sniffing around Charlotte for his replacement.
Can't see where Carrick Felix and "Charlotte" reconcile.

If that's the case I'm thinking Aaron Harrison, Former Charlotte player

I'm not taking too much stock of that. Boti's track record hasn't been that great over the past few years.
