THE Alabama Slamma

Only 1. Never to be repeated.

Pity we missed out on The Worm and his multiple psychoses

I guess Mike "Swish" McKay was only used locally. I thought that was worth an honorable mention.

"Twin Air" was not bad either (Jason and Darren Smith). Worth of mention in prelude to the actual list.

Nicknames just don't seem to be dished out much these days and if they are they don't seem to stick.

Might be worth starting a thread on the topic- "Best nicknames for current NBL players"

I thought twin air was one of the weakest nicknames around tbh

Reminds me of the days the cats had nicknames on the back of their singlets. Think they were limited to six letters. JC, watto, etc

Can someone assist with the origin of some of these nicknames?

For starters, why is Walker called "Waxy?"

I dunno how Bear got in the top ten list. I always thought that was a pretty ordinary nick name. Dolla Beal is much cooler

Darren "The Ninja" Ng
Paul "The Big Fella" Rees (might have only been at home games).
Cal "Black Pearl" Bruton (his name wasn't included earlier).
I believe Darryl "Iceman" Pearce had the nickname first.
