Fairly different reactions to last year ? Normally there are groups that are up in arms?
The Vic Country girls are tough!

Last year a lot of complaints were about how many Bulleen girls were in the metro squad. Only 1 Bulleen girl this year.

Surprised to see so many bottom agers in these squads. Not normal for u16s.
Chatfield and Derkson missing out is a surprise to me. Heal, bollands and Ohara must be very good bottom agers for metro and loughridge for country.
Also interesting country went so small, only one post player in Dunlop.
Dunn, Kitchell, Bollands and Ohara could be a handful.

Be interested to see how Pierre goes for metro boys.

Well done to all the athletes for making the teams!
Not so sure how much of a handful O'Hara will be? Wasn't selected in her clubs top 10, is in the second side (not uncommon for bottom aged kids- although mainly at larger clubs that have many teams, hers has only three)
Would have thought she was more of a prospect, but as the above post mentioned this is not the norm at u16s

Think country women are stronger than metro this year.

Nsw metro list just released looks strong along with qld nth who will have most of there team returning from last year.

All of the other state sides willl struggle I think.
(Wa m, wa c, sa m, sa c, nsw c, tas, nt, act, qld s)

Boys will be a tight competition. Several strong teams.

It is always tough when picking any side as there are so many unknowns and variables and always surprises. What amazes me though is that so many bottom age players made it, what the selectors are basically saying is that there were no better top age players available in the whole of the State. In the case of the Woman's VM U16 & U18 teams there were clearly better top age players that were simply overlooked. In Fairness if they are clearly better (GP in the U18) than for sure pick them, if not (for the remainder) their time will come in the next year, give the players who only have 1 more shot as a top age a go.

Bollands and Ohara are both bottom age post players. Seems Odd taking both when you have Dunn and Kitchell aswell.

2 of the emergencys I thought would be in the starting 5. Will be a very good team, like all vic m teams.

I think qld nth are quite strong.
Potentially
Ward, browning, Swain, bowyer, fearne, cleland, muggeridge etc.

A strange team selection for Vic Metro. Only 2 players playing VC champ under 16's last season. With majority players playing Met 1. The inclusion of so many bottom age is confusing especially with one reserve being top age and 6.2’ and national high jumper. Obviously not looking at tall athletic types, probably to much to work with... Chatfield was a huge surprise making reserve when obvious best shooter in Victoria if not the country which was shown last season When she hit 7 3’s against us.. Again probably to many positives to work with for her game. Nunawading strongest metro team for the season so far and could only get 1 girl selected which is strange in itself. Especially when same coach selected 5 players from her own side because they were the strongest.
Having watched this age group for a few years us country folk are laughing thanking the selectors for handing this one to us.
Girls to watch out for:
Dunn Dunn and Dunn

Agree.
Thought chatfields perimeter shooting was needed along with derkson as a backup rebounder to Dunn.

Qld Sth side will be interesting. A lot of good bottom agers and a mixed bag of top age talent. Selector will have a tough time selecting that team.
