Yeah, Ogilvy unlikely to ever suit for Boomers again

Gliddon is only mediocre and Newley is past his best before. More likely to see SF minutes from Broekhoff, Simmons, Creek or Bolden

Goulding and Cadee also unlikely considering we have Delle, Mills, Simmons and Exum all playing G. Delle would be the only one who couldn't play SG

Agree Cadee wouldnt be big minutes but certainly worthy as that 12th man x factor type to score big when required and create opportunity.

Delly/Exam/
Mills/Broekhoff/
Ingles/Creek
Simmons/bolden/
Baynes/Bogut/Maker

Some version of this, Simmons starts at the 4 but handles the ball Lit, Lebron style

I think delly starts over broekhoff, I like broekhof next to exum/delly a lot more than delly and exum playing together...

Lemanis has proven to be just about perfect when it comes to mixing and matching boomer lineups imo

There seems to be a player come out of nowhere every major tournament, so this could all change by 2020

For those posters that don't think Thon Maker should be included in the conversation because he is not the best player in the NBA. It appears you are not taking into account the standard of the league and players they are competing against.
Perhaps you should suggest some players that are dominating the local social comps to play for the boomers.

I'm dominating my local social comp in D grade. I’m 5’10 and play C/PF. No one can stop me on the low post. My opponents all run out of puff before they can transition that far down the floor.

I’ve already notified Lemanis of my unavailability for 2020 Olympics though. I can’t book time off from my part time job at Maccas. I’m a pro yo, so I can’t take on the responsibility of a full time 9 to 5er. My team needs me. The Boomers need me too, but my team comes before my country.

I guess the Boomers will have to try to scratch out a few Ws with those NBA scrubs like Thon Maker and Baynes, and hope that they can hold Bogut together with sticky tape until after the games.

I just know my absence will leave a big hole in the Boomers’ lineup and pray they can win a few without my inside dominance.

Shoutout to my man AussiePride: don’t stop daring to dream, even without my talents the Boomers deserve our love.

"Id go:

You're kidding right?

You can push Gliddon, Newley, Cadee and Ogilvy the hell out of the conversation immediately. Newley is too old, Gliddon is too average, and I am pretty sure Ogilvy must have had some sort of fling with someone in Andrej's family.

Creek, Bolden, Exum, Maker and Bogut are the obvious inclusions. Say what you will about Bogut, but even as broken as he is, if he plays in the NBL this season he will be the best center in the league by some distance. Creek is ripping apart the German league right now, which is top 4 or 5 league in the world. Bolden is doing similar and is basically an NBA player, and Maker would be as good a 12th man as you can ask for when you consider just his length.

I don't want those average-ass names you listed ever uttered or even seriously considered by Lemanis when we're looking at an A squad, thank you.

12 players - Right now, if injury free,

you have
4 player options at point ,power forward and centre.
3 player options at shooting guard and small forward.

if us amchair coaches can't choose our best starting 5 out of that !!!

1 Dellevadova 27 1.93m90 kg, Dante Exum 22 1.98 m 86Kg
1/3 Ben Simmons 21 2.08 m 104 kg
1/2 Patty Mills 29 1.83 m 84 kg ,
2 Chris Goulding 29 1.92 m
2/3 Ryan Broekhoff 27 2.01 m, 98 kg
3 Joe Ingles 30 2.03m 103 kg
4, Jonah Bolden 22,2.08m 98kg,
4/5 Brock Motum 27 2.08m 111 kg, Mangok Mathiang 25 2.08m 104 kg, Aron Baynes 31 2.08m 118 kg
5 Andrew Bogut 33 2.13 m 118 kg

if injury replacement now - see "YES now" below for replacement

BUT players that could have adequate improvement in 2 years to come into the mix

Bigs

Nick Kay 25 2.06m Not Now , maybe then
Cam Bairstow 27 2.06m YES now, maybe not then
Matur Maker 21 2.08m Not Now, maybe then

Matt Hodgson 26 2.11m 115kg Not Now ??? then (can't teach height)

Daniel johnson 30 2.12m 108kg YES now, maybe still then but DNP CD
Thon Maker 24 2.16m 101kg Not Now, maybe then (can't teach height)

swings
Mitch Creek 25 1.96 m 98 kg YES now, maybe then
Brad Newley 33 1.99m YES now , Not then
Jesse Wagstaff 31 2.03m Not Now, Not then
Deng Adel 21 2.01m 91 kg Not Now, Prob Not then. needs strength
Xavier Cooks 22 2.03 m 84 kg Not Now, Prob Not then, needs strength
Tai Wesley 31 2.01m 109kg YES now (if naturalised)
Majok Deng 25 2.08 m 83.91kg Not Now, Prob Not then needs strength

Guards
Mitch McCarron 25 1.89m Not Now, maybe then
Mitch Norton 25 1.86 m 1.86 m, maybe then
Nathan Sobey 27 1.93m Not Now maybe then
Jason Cadee 27 1.86 m Not Now, Not then
Cam Gliddon 28 1.97 m Not Now Not then
Kevin Lisch 31 1.88m YES now, Not then
Damian Martin 33 1.86m Not now, Not then

Admittedly I'n not 100% IN for Jonah Bolden, Mangok Mathiang or Chris Goulding right now, nor 100% OUT on Andrew Ogilvy, Daniel johnson or Mitch Creek, as I can't tell who Lemanis would choose.

but to quote an anon ( the shame!) " Lemanis has proven to be just about perfect when it comes to mixing and matching boomer lineups imo" I rate him as an international coach, no so great locally.

I don't actually feel certain about 1 or 2 of Dellevadova 30, Mills 32 or Goulding 32 being replaced in the starting 5 by others on the list, and then some left field young guard coming into the nbl this year, coming in on the bench in 2020 and putting one of them out.

I still remember the gang of three x 20 year old bigs going to the olympics under Dr adrian hurley, and that proved to be the right choice for quite a few olympics to follow for those players and for OZ

No one has really mentioned Josh Green. He will be nearly 19 by the time Tokyo 2020 comes around and I think he will be considered as a bolter for the squad. His shooting would definitely come in handy.

It will be a guy already playing pro ball currently.

No current college kid SG has shown boomer potential just yet.

So, even though Goulding and Mills are stopping us from being embarrassed at the scoring end right now, you'd leave Goulding out because we would have Broekhoff back?
While I like the squad, and most of them can hit 3-pointers in the NBA, I just don’t see enough reliable outside shooting in that squad and reckon we need to make space for Goulding in there.

Broekhoff is in our best team without any doubt. If Goulding has to miss out to make way for him then that's great news and says a lot about our depth. Kay was great against the USA too but that doesn't mean he is suddenly irreplaceable if Cooks, Bolden & Co are all healthy and firing.

I think you can scratch Bolden off of your depth charts. The Boomers have long memories and have blacklisted Ogilvy for less. Bolden has proven he cannot be a team guy and put the team ahead of his own personal aspirations and as such should not get a look in. Regardless of your feelings about the coaching staff, you either buy into the team philosophy or you can bugger off. Bolden chose to bugger off and I think it should stay that way. At least Ben Simmons didn't play warm up games and then completely turn the team upside down to get his way so Ben is still in the game for me.

2020 squad of 20

Ben Simmons
Dante Exum
MAtthew Dellavedova
Patty Mills
Bryce Cotton
Chris Goulding
Josh Green
Joe Ingles
Ryan Broekhoff
Xavier Cooks
Deng Adel
Mitch Creek
Jock Landale
Thon Maker
Brock Motum
Nick Kay
Aron Baynes
Andrew Bogut
Mangok Mathiang
Isaac Humphries
