nbl need trades

wants been happening in the last 2 month free agents trades are needed
EG
hawks got nothing when kay and norton left. with perth have 10,000 plus a game they could of giving Hire DKD and Brandt and 50,000 in cash.
king could of traded Todd blanchfield, malone darcy and Tom garlopp for Ellis and rotnei clarke.

wildcats get two top players and hawks save money for imports
kings get redd of players and money they dont want in todd and tom

I also think imports like Clarke should sign a 2 3 year contract and team let him play in Europe in the of season.

Players can already play overseas in the off-season.

And trades aren't going to work when the salaries are not strong enough that a player can easily absorb the cost of moving their family interstate or dealing with a change in cost of living.

Why should Illawarra get anything for Kay and Norton? They were out of contract.

Only way I think could happen is by mutual agreement between club and players. If an injury happens could give another club a call and offer cash and maybe a potential player who wants a fresh start somewhere.

Don't agree that the Hawks got nothing.
Naar and Blanchfield are adequate replacements, maybe not as good as Kay and Norton but certainly not scrubs.
Same with Cairns they lost McCarron and Gliddon but will use imports to replace them and Loe and Walker can produce similar output as Egwu and Evans.

The primary purpose of trades, is to protect the inherent value created by the drafts.

The fundamental problem in Australia is that it is a clear-cut case of restraint of trade and therefor illegal. AFL gets way with it because it can. Its too powerful for a player to take on.

How can you have trades when there are 4 imports. Trade who? 5 - 6 with 5 benchies?
